There's an old saying that goes something like this:
Never dance on a grave while the body's still warm.
I'm just sayin'...

Rot In Prison is right. Kennedy was nothing more than a murderer, no more nor less. Good riddance.
Mary Jo's body was cold before she ever was pulled out of the water. Her unpunished murderer has now met his maker. His body temp is of no concern to me.
Ouch. Didn't realize that Teddy was so despised...carry on, then.

Gee I was hoping his death would have been a little more violent. This S.O.B. was really nothing more than a murdering coward. Just a lying drunk with plenty of money and a family name. I sure hope the funeral is private. I don't want to hear how much good he'd done for the poor people of this world.

admin edit: Moved this comment from the lottery thread to its appropriate place here to keep the trash organized.
I think I'd erect several giant monuments to Ted Kennedy all around I 75 and 475/23 just to make conservative heads explode as they drive anywhere in Northwest Ohio. :)

Coffee, maybe you're not old enough to remember.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/6094161/Ted-Kennedy-Chappaquiddick-Incident.html
That's a brief account. I read somewhere that the mortician who embalmed MaryJo claims almost no water came out of her body- she may have suffocated instead of drowning. So while Teddy sat in his hotel room sobering up, she was dying. Who knows, if he had called for help right away, she may have been saved.
For this, he spent no time in jail, and the morons of Massachusetts kept on re-electing him.
If it had been "Joe Regular citizen" instead of a Kennedy, what would he have gotten?
Yes, by all means, let's let one horrible incident overshadow everything else he accomplished. If we're going to do that, then allow me to bring up Laura Bush committing vehicular manslaughter at 17 when she blew through a stop sign.
Maybe you can help me, remind me of anything good he did, besides sucking at the government teat for 47 years.
It’s all out there on the internets if you take the time to read it.
Gotta love it though, you think he sat I the Senate for 40 some years doing nothing and yet to you people Palin invented the wheel in her blink and you will miss it turn as Gubner Icekween.
Ted Kennedy - senator for 40 years. Still a murderer.
Michael Jackson - did much charity work for 40 years - still a pedophile.
OJ Simpson - foot ball great. Still a killer
John Wayne Gacy - entertainer of children...
Dennis Rader - church deacon...
There's no scale where your good deeds excuse your crimes...
I bet you assholes are really going to love it when they name the health bill after him. ;)
Ted, the only Kennedy not worthy of a bullet...

Ted Kennedy was a walking example of how money and power can get you out of anything and just by having a certain last name, you can obtain positions of power.
As I'm sure he felt about me, I don't care he died. It was long overdue.
Any idiot that did what he did on the night Mary Kopechne died surely does not have the mental faculties to be making decisions for anyone else.
Does it make people feel good to disparage the dead?
Ted Kennedy was not without flaws. But none of us are.
OK, billy. By your own criteria, will you admit, here and now, that Laura Bush, despite all good deeds she's done for charities, literacy, etc., is a killer?
This thread is too funny.
Some people having been 'saving up' for this one for a long, long time.
Pathetic.
Yes Mark, she did kill. She also was accountable and went thru the court system and didnt use family money or political power to cover it up.
Are you able to see the difference, or is the whole idea of personal accountability beyond your grasp?
Yea, cause we all know Billy would not use any resources necessary to get out of trouble. He would be the first to tell them to lock him up and throw away the key. sarcasm
From Jeepmaker's link above:
"A judge found that there probable cause to believe that Kennedy operated his motor vehicle negligently ... and that such operation appears to have contributed to the death of Mary Jo Kopechne."
He entered a guilty plea and got a two-month suspended sentence.
I'm not defending Kennedy on Chappaquiddick. You can say his actions were that of a coward and I wouldn't argue a bit.
But he did go 'thru the court system' and if family money or political power was used to get off lightly, he's in a ten-mile-long line that includes many from all political families/power brokers representing all political parties.
And you know this how? You're an idiot ryan. You cannot judge my character you moron, you've got nothing to back yourself up. you have nothing that tells you what standard of accountability I hold myself to, so therefore you just make shit up like a jackass.
history though - tells what Ted did and what Laura did.
One took the honorable way out and the other did not. Ironically, the honorable one DID end up living in the white house and the other never did...
All of us here would use our families clout and/or money to get out of trouble if we could and you know it as well as I do.
Put down the super hero cape.

This is the most vile display I have seen in quite a while - worse even than the things circulated after Michael Jackson died. Regardless of what he did, a man died last night. There is a time and a place for this discussion and 8 hours post mortem on a Toledo internet bulletin board is not it.
Society is not made better by this sort of behavior. Many cite Kennedy's lack of moral integrity yet fail to follow a kindergarten rule, "Do unto others..." Don't bother claiming that Kennedy doesn't deserve respect or some other similar sentiment. He may have been the most morally abhorrent person to roam the Earth - it does not matter. Deriding the recently deceased is not something of which anyone should be proud.

Yes, the vitriol is pretty thick with this crowd.
From Ryan: All of us here would use our families clout and/or money to get out of trouble if we could and you know it as well as I do.
No, I don't know it as well as you do.
The point is that none of us have been elected to the US Senate, gotten blind drunk, driven our car off a bridge and left a passenger to die by drowning, and then failed to report this little incident to anyone until the next day when we get questioned about it.
Kennedy pled guilty to a charge of leaving the scene of an accident after causing injury for which he received a suspended sentence. The only thing more revolting and despicable than Kennedy's crime is the complete failure of the justice system to charge and prosecute him for murder.
I suspect that this vitriolic reaction that you so despise would have been provoked by any reference to Ted Kennedy as being a hero or accomplishing great feats while in office.
And while I'm at it MoreThanRhetoric, our society is not improved by electing officials who have a depraved indifference to human life, which Kennedy certainly evidenced when he left Mary Jo to drown.
I didn't know you were there in his head, sorry.
But you sure as heck would use anything you could to save your ass, don't BS anybody here.
I can honestly say that I would not use my family, money, or position to get out of what I deserve. You can believe it or not. It's called being accountable for one's actions. Something many younger people didn't learn growing up.
Laura Bush killed someone allegedly by accident. Ted Kennedy killed someone allegedly by accident. The difference in my opinion is that Kennedy was able to and did in fact make up an incredible story that no one in their right mind should have believed. But people are stupid and sometimes without morals so they let him live his lie and enjoy a life of wealth and privilege.
The real shame is how just because the man died and his name shot to the top of the news, some find it offensive to remind others of that horrific incident. I've posted it before and I'll post it again. I shed no tear for anyone who lives their life in a way that that has brought harm to others. Kennedy essentially took a life. I may not be perfect, but I can guarantee you that I never took a life.
It is nice to know that some of you on here jump right into the boat with "you would use anything to save your ass" concept. I would not. Sorry. That's how I was raised and that's what kind of person I am.
Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.
Curious. Do you frequent Carmels?
Madjack:
I agree with some of your sentiment. We are not made better by electing politicians who have no regard for other people, life, etc...Regardless of the type of person Kennedy was, you have a choice to be a positive or negative contributor to the world. The two are not inexorably linked. The difference between Jerry Springer and something better is in how people choose to treat others - no matter what kind of person they are or were.
Hockey: I do not care if you shed a tear for Kennedy. I do not care if the incident is discussed. Those things do not bring down the sum total of human decency. What does bring us all down is when people spew garbage like "I was hoping his death would have been more violent" or "...not worthy of a bullet." There is no excuse for that kind of display.

I think Mary Jo Kopechne and her family would think differently of Mr. Kennedy and his death.
They should install a urinal over his grave....that way he can Rest in Pee.
