Andrew Z Pizza Shop

In case anyone else listens to his morning show I'm a little confused at some of the random blups. Did he open a pizza store, if so what is it called, when does it open and where is it.

There was something on the radio about Carlos Diaz coming to Toledo for a party at the pizza place.

Its going to open at Levis Commons the beginning of October. I forget what it is called but I am sure it will have his "name" attached to it.Just what we need another pizza place, in Levis no less (good luck).Carlos Diaz is a tool and the 92.5 morning crew are a bunch of star fuckers that should have been banned by the FCC a long time ago. EGO is served daily along side a plate of not funny.

this appears to be a case of 'swollen cranium' for Andrew Zepeda.

what is next....?
AndrewZepeda car washes ?

This guy's ego is out-of-control, as demonstrated by his 'hostile environment in the workplace' video with Nic.

I predict a swift crash-and-burn for this joint, as FatAndrew eats all the profits.

I'll give it a try. I hope the prices are ok. While I do enjoy the eateries at Levis it would be nice to have something more in line with mortal men and woman.

Nagoya and Blue Pacific are great but who wants to drop $30-50 a meal for 2.

Maggie Moo's still kicks butt though. :)

"I'm a little confused"

apparently, so is he. I never listen to his show, ever, but I know he's in on that Million Pound Challenge thingy, so doesn't this kinda fly in that face? Pizza is one of the worst things for losing weight, unless you just eat the cheese and meats/veggies off the top, being sure to wipe off the sugary tomato sauce first. Just one more hypocrit making news.......

Geez Ryan, now we know you work for the government AND listen to country-western music...are you GW Bush?

nana, if i'm not mistaken, this man had surgery to lose his weight.

a little note: arguably, the best pizza in america is lombardi's in nyc. stone oven baked, with a light crust, thin sauce and a reverence for ingredients like a couple blobs of fresh mozzarella rather than a thick layer of greasy cheese. that sort of pizza is not entirely unhealthy -- but I am guessing this new pizza joint will be far from lombardi's.

@Ryan - LOL. Internets covers all 57 states.

I'll stop in there. I'm not a fan of his show, but I don't have a problem with people investing in a community. More power to him if he can be successful at other ventures.

"other ventures" ????

it was a tongue in cheek poke at JimmyJackoff and his assumed 'business expertise'. (steam plant, Jackoff Bar & Grill, car wash and detailing center)

It seems that there is a mistaken belief that success in one area supposes success in another, and that just ain't true.

FatAndrew Pizza inc. will close within a year of opening.

He can eat whatever he wants. He'll just get his gut band tightened. lol

The things you people complain about are unbelievable. You are making fun of Jimmy Jackson for trying to start a few businesses? Are you serious? It's attitudes like yours that make Toledo terrible for economic development.

The funny thing about the whole situation is that these guys are 1,000's of times more successful than you because they take risks and aren't afraid to be made fun of by childish idiots on an internet forum.

April 2009 TCP article titled Jimmy Jackson fouls out - "Local legend loses Midas touch in T-town"

Some excerpts:

James “Jimmy” Jackson became a local hero with his illustrious career as a basketball star at Macomber High School here in Toledo. Throughout his career, however, Jackson never forgot about Toledo, wearing “419” on his arm.

His business ventures include investment in several restaurants in Dallas and Denver, with headquarters of The JAJ Company right here in downtown Toledo at the Ohio Building. However, it is endeavors in his hometown that seems to be causing grief for the basketball legend.

The Adaris Group, an environmental testing firm; the Dorr Upton Center: an automotive one-stop shop, The Car Spa; Jackson’s Lounge and Grille, with live jazz located in Downtown Toledo, all of these businesses are nowhere to be found.

JAJ Development Company is in legal trouble, as well as fiscal. Fifth Third Bank is suing Jackson and his enterprises for defaulting on loans. To make matters worse, Jackson’s other business venture, plan to develop the old Toledo Edison steam plant into residential living space with partner David Ball a fellow member of Water Street Development Co., LLC, is tied up in litigation with the City of Toledo.

For Jackson, there may not be much success to report from his hometown, despite his efforts to stoke the entrepreneurial fire here in Toledo. Bad investments, bad government, bad economy — are these the real reasons behind Jackson’s setbacks? This would imply that Toledo is an inhospitable market, even for a local legend. It may be true, but though more seasoned developers, like Ball, hit their share of roadblocks, they also have a plan for success.

Jackson's had amazing food.

My husband swears that he had the best steak of his life there.

We went there 3 or 4 times, including a birthday dinner for me with a big group of friends. They all loved it.

I'm sad we didn't make it back more often before it closed. Unfortunately, with 2 small children, we don't get a chance to go out to a "nice" dinner very often.

Too bad though - it was a nice place.

A little OT, what do you all like to listen to in the morning; if applicable?

I've never really tried tuning around other than 101.5 (?) for Christmas time. Always up for new things to listen to.

"what do you all like to listen to in the morning; if applicable?"

Birds, but they're mostly done singing now. But the insects of late summer and early fall pretty much "sing" round the clock. Katydids, cicadas, crickets, grasshoppers, etc.

Sometimes I listen to Andrew Z's show. But there's only so much I can take before I have to turn the channel.

(I want to like his show, because at least its local. But sometimes he gets a little whiny and/or overzealous about certain things, and I have to take a break from the show. lol)

Honestly, I do like Kidd Kraddick (98.3). But I feel like I'm missing out on a local feel when I listen to his show for too long. (No local callers, issues, etc.) If it weren't for that, I'd probably listen to his show more often.

Occasionally I'll listen to K100's morning show, because I do like some country music. (Though there's only so much I can listen to at a time.)

My husband listens to Dave and Chuck the Freak on 89X out of Detroit/Windsor. They make me laugh sometimes, but I can only take them in small doses. (Can be a little offensive...and I'm not all that easy to offend. But, that's WHY my husband listens to them, so I guess they appeal to their target market.)

Andrew Z and Carlos Diaz were talking about Toledo Talk (this topic) on the show this morning. Apparently Carlos stumbled across this when searching about the pizza shop.

BTW - I looked at the Toledo Free Press article about the grand opening. The pizza in the photo does look yummy. I'll have to add it to my list of local eateries to try. A "medium dish" pizza does sound like an interesting concept.

P.S. Yes, I have been online a lot recently. I'm recovering from major surgery and can't do much else right now. I don't live in my parents' basement though. ;)

I heard! :) Made me happy hearing Andrew read my original post. He sounded about as excited as I was writing it. Go ahead and poke fun, I'm a fanboy of the show lol.

Carlos made a good point though, "while a lot of people are leaving town Andrew is keeping it local" and I agree.

A shame this isnt going into an area that needs development like downtown.

agreed. but we already have a couple great pizza joints downtown...

Initially he was saying he was opening a Mexican place downtown. Now THAT would have been a good idea. Not sure what happened to that, but a pizza place I would assume is mush easier to get up and running. At the very least he is filling up an otherwise empty building and Levis is too new to have to be worrying about vacancies already.

Andrew has a big ego with nothing to back it up. Last week he accused the Savages of trying to pull a money grab w/ their media blitz. In reality he was mad b/c they wouldn't appear on his show. If I were Carolyn and Sean Savage I wouldn't consider Andrew Z in The Morning as a media outlet. Andrew can't see the the majority of Toledoans see him as entertainment catering to the lowest common denominator of the city.

I honestly never heard of the guy until he was crowned "weight-loss czar". But, I only listen to NPR.

Any of you haters who trash talk Andrew Z, don't know much about the man. I know him and he's one of the hardest working people I know. He values family and loyalty to friends; Andrew Z's pizzeria is doing great because it has a great staff and great food! Time will only make his place better! Try the pizza and fogetaboutit!

I don’t know who this is either; I gather he’s a radio personality venturing into the pizza biz, right? Someone please enlighten me. Thanks

Thank God I have Sirius and listen to Stern...Toledo morning radio is terrible. Honestly I can't talk the music they play either or the annoying commercials but hey to each their own.

As far as the pizza and Andrew Z...maybe it will be good, it the prices are reasonable and I'm actually in Perrysburg I'll give it a try.
