Police Escort Truck Convoy

On Saturday I saw one of the oddest things in my life. I was picking up some veggies from a fruit stand on 795. When I left there was a group of maybe 10-15 tractor and trailers with a police escort.

They had cops in the front and back, and wouldn't allow people in the other lane. I was behind them going to my in-laws and every single road or exit till 280 had cops blocking them off. Then as they passed they would leave.

Looked like they might have even blocked off part of i-280 as we could see cars backed up driving up Lemoyne.

They weren't military vehicles, in fact 1 was a walmart rig and another was best buy.

Anyone ever see anything like that? Didn't catch the news that night but it was weird.
Just seemed like insanely tight security for consumer trucks.

The Consumer trucks could have been cover for something they were carrying that was important, but then again if they were doing that the cops would be a tip off that they were carrying something important.

it might have been the police escorting the trucks to the closest weigh station.

The Feds use disguise trucks all the time, for all kinds of shipments they don't want you paying attention to...

Likely the trucks were hauling nuclear waste.

Maybe they were supplies/food that was headed to a relief area? I have seen police escorts for that. Georgia has flooding.

nuclear waste is not hauled by trucks disguised as wal-mart trucks

Usually it's on trains

hockeyfan,

We all know unmarked black helicopters carry nuclear waste. But I think that is the waste from UFO's.

My guess is that the trucks were loaded with swine flu vaccine? But it could be anything at all.

then again, Walmart is the root of all evil, so maybe they do store nuclear waste under walmart stores

Maybe they are taking the people that have swine flu away.

I heard Carty's screeching rant from last Friday's press conference where he defended the planting of flowers. I think those trucks were hauling his meds.

Silly jr.... they'll have plenty of fans for the next Lions home game. Of course, they'll all be wearing Steelers jerseys....

By the way, I found what the convoy was for... it's an annual event for Special Olympics.
