I wish I could say that his support by many of Hollywierds elites surprised me.

I wonder if they'd feel the same if it was THEIR 13 year old girl he raped and sodomized?

A recent study of today's children showed a very young age of start of sexual activity and STDs too. It's tragic, but that's what happens when people don't watch their kids while in pursuit of that new car or that mcmansion. Americans need to work to live, instead of living to work. Family values? LOLLLLLL the party of family values has driven both parents to a record divorce rate, record work hours before the crash, and record pregnancy among their children.

But!! According to Whoopi Goldberg it wasnt Rape-Rape....

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/film/roman-polanski/6245219/Roman-Polanski-backlash-as-Whoopi-Goldberg-says-director-didnt-commit-rape-rape.html

"His victim, Samantha Gailey, told a grand jury that the director had plied her with champagne and drugs and taken nude pictures of her in a hot tub during a fashion shoot. Polanski then had sexual intercourse with her despite her resistance and requests to be taken home, she said"

Sounds like Rape-Rape to me!!

Maybe Whoopie needs a quick bitch slap-bitch slap...

Not just Goldberg... Woody Allen, Martin Scorsese, David Lynch, Michael Mann, Wim Wenders, Pedro Almodovar, Wong Kar-Wai, Jonathan Demme, Harvey Weinstein...

They took Goldbergs words out of context. She was trying to explain what he was charged with (and did a poor job). But of course Woody Allen is on there, he is a big perv too.

It is disappointing that so many in Hollywood have rushed to Polanski's defense offering lame excuses from the prosecution was biased, that Polanski is a great artist, how much time has passed, that he was somehow already punished by not being able to return to the U.S. and, possibly the most disturbing, that it wasn't "rape rape."

The fact is that Polanski plead down from statutory rape to unlawful sex with a minor in order to get a reduced sentence. He fled the country after that plea after he allegedly heard from "someone" that the judge was going to throw the book at him. If that was the case, he should have asked his lawyers about something called "an appeal."

What I think bothers me the most is the effort to minimize the crime. This wasn't a violent, aggressive rape by a stranger. But an adult man having sex with a 13 year old is a crime and it doesn't matter if the girl was a willing participant or not. Polanski plied her with alcohol and drugs and had sex with her. That is rape and he needs to face the music for that.

I think what this shows is how out of touch with main stream America Hollywood Types are.

There is no way of spinning this to be anything other than rape.

There was no taking this out of context. Goldberg is a ship wreck.

I think she is a train wreck myself. But her words were used incorrectly. It was played to death last night.

They released new (or at least less publicized) details from the original court case today.

Apparently Polanski violated the girl vaginally, orally, and anally. Without her consent.

That's rape, plain and simple.

I'm torn by the fact that the victim just wants this all to go away now. On one hand, I can understand that all the publicity surrounding the case makes things harder for her. (Especially with the media vultures.)

On the other hand, not only did he commit the crime, he fled and refused to accept the consequences. Had he dealt with this appropriately years ago, the situation WOULD be over.

The reason its still an ongoing issue is that he has never taken responsibility and accepted the consequences of his actions.

Thoughts for Polanski apologists, by another woman raped at 13.

I'm surprised the Clinton apologists aren't all on Polanskis' side on this one, other than the Hollywood types.

Does this sound like a guy who feels any sort of remorse or regret about what he did? Apparently he thinks that everyone harbors an inner pedophile.

“If I had killed somebody, it wouldn’t have had so much appeal to the press, you see? But… fucking, you see, and the young girls. Judges want to fuck young girls. Juries want to fuck young girls. Everyone wants to fuck young girls!”

(The source for that quote is listed here: http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/michaeldeacon/100011795/roman-polanski-everyone-else-fancies-little-girls-too/ )

Fleeing before sentencing is also a crime that he should be forced to answer for.

That's right, the trial part is over, now it's time to carry out the rest of the process.

Lets hope he gets a nice prison sentence, because - "But… fucking, you see, and the old men. Judges want to fuck old men. Juries want to fuck old men. Everyone wants to fuck old men!”

Just be nice to find out he found that to be true with his new surroundings..

That's the thing. There never was a trial. Grand jury testimony was taken, Polanski saw the writing on the wall and plead it down. Then he admitted committing the acts. What exactly happened between the parties is not in dispute. Polanski just wasn't man enough to take his medicine.

Big difference between consensual sex between adults and rape of a minor. What Clinton did was scummy and an abuse of his position, but not illegal.
