in yet another slap in the face of the citizens of toledo, 13 abc had a story tonight about the "forgotten fourteen" - 14 toledo police officers who are still laid off. in a city where hundreds of people lose jobs when one factory closes and there are currently tens of thousands of people unemployed, how dare channel 13 focus on 14 city employees who have been unemployed for 6 months at 40% of their regular salaries. with all of the citizens of toledo who have lost homes, been forced to move in with family, go on public assistance, or even break up families in order to try to survive, it is insulting that they focus on 14 people bellied up to the public payroll as if they are more important than the other thousands of unemployed.

Because this is a union city and they would prefer to cry over 14 union workers that are only getting 40% of their pay over hundreds of others who aren't getting a single cent.
we just spent 9.67 million on trash cans, maybe we can hire them to pick up garbage.
People voted down Issue 1 last month, so obviously they want flowers instead of cops. maybe they could've not hired Carty's son in law for $25/hr and put a laid off cop in there instead
Did some get rehired? Maybe my memory is fuzzy but I thought the layoff was in the 75-100+ range
