"Is it just me, or did Halloween usurp Thanksgiving's position in the holiday hierarchy this year? -- thetoledowire"
It's not just you ... starting last week at least one department store was in full-on Xmas mode, a dress shop in downtown Perrysburg had shiny foil gift-wrapped windows, and the Christmas-theme TV commercials started.
I fully expect that a decade or so in the future, Christmas commercialism will have been pushed forward into the Back-to-School retail sales period. That will expose the soft underbelly of summer holidays, so retailers can make an assault on Fourth of July.
Where the heck have you guys been??? For like the last 2 or 3 years, most retailers have completely passed on Thanksgiving after Halloween and went straight to Christmas.
