Need A Good Travel Agent

Does anyone know a good travel agent? Are they even still around?

i stopped using travel agents years ago. why pay someone an extra fee, when you can do all your researching and buying online?

Molsonator, if you belong to AAA, their agents seem to be pretty decent. I have not a lot of experience with them-probably 6 or 7 trips over the past 15 years-but they have found places, routes, and prices that I had not found on line. I don't use them for a quick flight to Florida, or something like that, but for a real vacation with air, hotel and transportation, they seem competent AND you don't pay them for the privilege!! Let us know how you make out.

Agree with both posters above. travelocity.com or other places online are a great way to find deals.

Also like AAA as well, they've always been able to help me when I had questions but that requires membership.

Check out frommers.com. Their newsletter is wonderful, and you can get lots of helpful hints from their message boards.

If you're just looking for a cheap flight, go to kayak.com. It searches multiple airlines based on your criteria, and comes up with the best price.

I agree with upso -- why pay someone a fee when so many Web sites will do it for free?

The problem is I am trying to rent a house/condo in USVI for a week and I want an expert to find it. I have heard horror stories of people traveling all the way down and there is no house. Two families would be going to St. John's.

try http://www.vrbo.com - I use that site every time I want to rent a house/condo instead of staying at a hotel and I have never had an issue.

Trip Advisor has many rental home properties listed on St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands -- lots of them with reviews by other travelers. I always look for peer reviews to avoid nasty surprises. Trip Advisor and its users has been super helpful many times.
