Vegas Hotel ?

We're heading to Vegas late this month. We haven't been there in over 10 yrs. Last time we stayed at the Luxor (loved it). If you've been there recently what do you recommend?

I haven't personally, but 1/2 of the people I work with spend their vacations there every year. Will ask around and get some tips.

Both my in-laws and a close friend of mine are partial to the Flamingo. They say it has some of the most reasonable prices near the center of the strip and a great pool.

As for me...I'm a cheapskate, so I'll stay wherever I can get the best bargain. (within reason, I guess) I'm not one to spend a lot of time in my hotel room when on vacation anyhow, so I try to leave the extra money in my pocket for gambling. :)

I liked the Tropicana when I stayed there in Sept. It is a older hotel, but we enjoyed it. I also like the MGM.

Seriously, refer to tripadvisor.com - their reviewes and ratings are 100% user based and generally GREAT. I have never gone wrong with tripadvisor.com - best of all after you stay somewhere..you too can leave reviews and advise about particular places.

I like the site for finding attractions, and itnjerests that I otherwise would have missed.

Last four trips were Bellagio (2), MGM, and Venetian.

All very nice, and plenty of discounts available.

Monte Carlo is nice and reasonably priced for the Strip. The Golden Nugget was taken over and rehabbed by Landry's not too long ago and is nice, not to mention much cheaper than staying on the Strip.

I stayed at the wynn recently, and it was also pretty nice.

The pool at the Four Seasons is the best on the Strip. For guests only and really quiet. I would stay there again just for that.

A friend from work recommended the Paris Hotel, but have also heard good things about MGM.

If you joined the players club at the Luxor then you belong to all of the MGM Mirage caino's.

That being said go to their site playersclub.com and take a look at their promotions.

There is some nice promotions for Mandalay Bay and THEhotel. I have stayed at both and would only switch to maybe the Wynn (they're just better experiences). But through the promotions you'll get them at discounted prices.

Right now the most popular for these two hotels are $69 a night for Mandalay Bay and $89 for THEhotel. Trust me if you stay at these it'll pretty much ruin it for every other hotel.

There are too many potential answers to this question - it depends on so many variables. Here's how I would recommend approaching this:

1) Determine your budget and priorities (e.g. Do you want to see specific attractions/shows/nightlife, etc? Do you prefer a certain part of the Strip?)

2) Check smartervegas.com to find the best deals around your travel dates, and narrow down your hotel options.

3) As someone else mentioned, use Tripadvisor.com (and yelp.com) to read reviews on your specific options and ask the knowledgeable and helpful posters there any questions you may have.

Wherever you stay just be sure to get those Deuce tickets. That bus was a savior!

Yikes!!! So much excellent advice from which to choose. Our goals are to stay, as well located as possible, on the strip, pamper ourselves and see as many shows as we can. Gambling's not a big deal nor our primary reason to go. We set a limit of how much we are wiling to donate and when we reach that point we quit.
