thanks wishin, watching now. Amazed that the issue 3 is doing so well thought it would go down in flames. Figured issue 2 was up in the air though.

Major historic change in Toledo. For the better.
No racism here, just a fact: A black, independent, beat a white, polish, democrat. Whooda thunk it?

I am happy Bell won...couldn't vote for him (don't live in town) but I know him and he is a terrific guy....but he is a life long Dem. and only ran independent because the Dem. party didn't want him they wanted Wilk. So, make no mistake, the Dems still won and got a Dem. mayor...just not the one they wanted.

Well, there goes another election destroyed by fiscal liberals. Apparently Toledoans aren't poor enough yet from being taxed.

We still have a long way to go to get into Detroit's condition.

I've enjoyed watching Fox News crow that Republicans are on the rise. The Virginia Democrat was crummy and ran a bad campaign. Corzine in NJ was in trouble before the campaign and lost by a few percentage points. Nothing dramatic.

What Fox doesn't seem to mention is that the NY-23 race, where the Conservative lost to a Democrat 49% to 45%, is a reliably conservative district that hasn't sent a Democrat to Congress since the 1800's. If the Republicans think that moving to the right is going to work, I think this election disproves the logic of that strategy. Of course, the fact that Hoffman didn't live in the district, couldn't answer basic questions about local issues and had the personality of a rock didn't help either.

Guess that ol' Palin magic (wink-wink) didn't work in NY, huh, Ace?

Also, if you look at the trend in those two states it is nothing new.

Faux News is the best comedy on TV right after Modern Family!

The NY-23 race should be a wake up call to both the democrats and the republicans in name only.
A very short time ago Hoffman was a total unknown. He almost pulled it of. I hear there were over 6000 people that voted for Scazza-what's her name even though she pulled out. That's REAL smart.

This election was a shot across the bows of both parties by conservatives.

I hope the RNC finally gets the message and quits wasting tons of money on republican candidates nobody other than the democrats want to see run. I know they got the proof yesterday. Also, this is proof that not only doesn't Palin have any clout, neither do the town halls and tea parties.

Back to the local elections. Voter turnout on Tuesday for:

  • Lucas County was about 37%.
  • Toledo was about 34%.

In the September 2009 primary, voter turnout for Toledo was around 18%.

In the September 2005 primary, voter turnout for Toledo was 22%. For the November 2005 election, voter turnout for Toledo was estimated to be 35% to 40%.

So Toledo voters turned out in slightly lower numbers for this fall's primary and general elections. No Carty this time. Carty is a draw. He should do a one-man theatre road show.

Carty Finkbeiner (D-B)47,35161%
Jack Ford (D-A)29,16938%
total76,520-

Mike Bell (I)35,11852%
Keith Wilkowski (D)31,98748%
total67,105-
