New Point Place Pizza Restaurant: J-Cups Pizza

A quick plug for an old friend who just opened a new independent pizza restaurant in Point Place, J-Cups Pizza. The restaurant is located at 5406 N. Summit Street in the Point: (419)-720-8669. High-quality pizza, low prices, and fast carryout are the trademarks of J-Cups Pizza (sorry, no delivery to keep prices low). They offer a $5.00 Ready-to-Go pepperoni pizza that is much better than that other national competitor, and Jim Jacob (the owner) is the kind of owner who will work seven days a week to make this a winner.

Living in PP I will give it a try as well. I wish him luck because it seems that the new Vitos has already put 2 other pizza places out of business.

They do have a small dining area - I think about eight 4-top tables. The restaurant could hold a small gathering.

I don't see how Vito's can put anyone out of business, their pizza sucks. LOL! I will definatly try this place next time i get over that way that picture on your blog made me hungry! Thanks Mike!

Thanks for the heads up historymike. I'll give them a try. I have to agree with tm2, I think Vito's pizza is close to inedible. I've tried them twice and won't be burned a 3rd time.

Know what I'm eating this weekend :) always up for Pizza especially if it's a local owned business thanks for the heads up. Hope it works out for him.

ah, billy, it's not just Foodie ... we're currently in the first of a three-month boycott of Vitos because they kept sending text-mail ads to both our phones - even after we asked to be removed from their texting list.

While I don't blame the local store manager for that since he assured me he had forwarded our numbers (along with about 2 dozen others who also asked to be removed), my husband was livid ...

But we do like their pizzas ... quite a bit more than the Bambinos that was there.

As for J-Cupps, I stopped and picked up one of the $5 ready pepperoni pizzas. I'm not one for thick crusts and lots of sauce, so this was just perfect. It has a good flavor and plenty of cheese and pepperoni. We'll give their other items a try as well, especially since they have my two favorite toppings: green olives and feta.

In fact, the next time we have kids in the house, we'll pick up their apple pizza pie...

Thanks for the quick review Mags.

Although I will say I am leery of those pizzas that are ready when you get there. I got royally sick off one before and know a few other people that had the same experience.
Not saying it would happen here, just saying.

what building is that in? Is it the old Chicken n Joy building? that would be the third pizza place in that same building in about 2 years. Vito's isn't bad, about same as Marco's. Little Ceasers is bad unless you like your pizza with raw dough in the middle.

I'll give you one I do like billy: Marcos thin crust pizzas with extra sauce. Don't care for their regular crust pizzas but I think their thin crusts are very good. Also love Inky's and Gino's - except for the one on Alexis - place is almost always filthy. Can't help it. I know what I like and don't like. If I'm going to stuff myself with junk food, I at least want it to be high quality junk food!

I definitely plan on checking this place out as well. Vito's is very hit and miss with me... lately it's been more miss. I'll try to remember to post an update once we give it a taste.

has anybody gotten the 'pepperoni pleaser' from Vito's? last couple of times we ordered it, it came with 3-4 pepperonis per slice. called and complained and they said we have to order it "the old way." second time we ordered it 'the old way' and it came with barely any pepperoni. called and complained and manager said nothing he can do. we've boycotted vitos ever since

Going there tonight after work, can't wait.

OT: Maggie, how did y ou get Vito's to stop? They send me a text about once every 1-3 days, it's getting really annoying.

historymike: Thanks for the heads up, great pizza and great price. Just wish it wasn't so far from me, which sadly will keep me from going as often. More power to the owner though, hope it's a success and looking forward to going back.

I did get to try J-Cups this weekend. The pizza was good, but rather greasy. Don't know that it will be a favorite of mine. I miss Roma's Pizza that filled the space prior. They made a very good pie!

reply back to the texts with the word STOP and that shuts them off.

Sampled the pizza and the wings tonight. Not sure why thin crust is only available in a large and is a dollar more, but whatevs. Sauce is a bit sweet, but tasty. Wings are well done. Overall pretty tasty and will definitely be going back - especially since they got the order right 100% unlike some places. It will be a good "hog in treat yourself" place.

They now have a second location at Secor and Alexis. I am a bit surprised because the one out in the point never seems too busy, but happy to see they must be doing well!

Glad to see they are doing well. Sad how time flies, I really should go back, but as memory serves they make a great pizza and at a reasonable price.

Hands down the best $5 pizzas I've ever had. They've improved their recipe since opening, and I would suggest that anyone who was initially disappointed should give them another try.

Sounds great! I hate that little ceasars commercial "voted best value". Lol yeah but crap for pizza! Lol

Little Sleasers, just how long was that pizza sitting in the keep warm box? They always had cheap pizza but they haven't been worth eating since they closed their in house resteraunt that was on the corner of Suder and Benore. I remember going and eating there when I was a kid, hell the pizza could of been crap back then too, but I seem to remember enjoying it.
