A few months ago, I took about 3,500 ft of old 8mm film from the 1950's and some vhs tapes, to this shop in Toledo:

website:

www.TransferMeToDVD.com

They did a nice job.

Here's the link to a thread on ToledoTalk.com, from about 7 months ago, when I posed the same sort of question.

I took my old family movies to Costco photo department. They did a great job (sent off somewhere, not local) and it was about $12 per reel.

I can do it to, never charged friends or family so guess if you had to pay I could break it down to a per DVD fee. It's not really hard to do, or time consuming from a worker point of view, just a good bit of time letting the computer sit there while capturing, then transcoding to mpeg2 format. I have some prebuilt DVD designed I've used for other home movies so that is already done.

Don't know anyone local.

Walter: cool link! Just another reason I love Toledo. Being a big city you can pretty much find anything you need here. Really wish that company a lot of luck.
