Toledo City Paper issues "Best of Toledo 2009" issue

It's officially out today. I forgot to vote since I rarely see the Toledo City Paper anymore. It's published every other week, though I swear it was a weekly at one time. I guess like all the other publications, they're tightening their belts. If anything, I wanted to vote for Toledo Talk as the best local blog. Seems that many of the same people/businesses keep getting voted "the best" in this issue. They must advertise heavily in the TCP. I noticed a lot of winning businesses/individuals are located on Monroe Street or in the Sylvania/Sylvania Twp. area.

BINGO!!!

which is why TCP's 'best of' is nothing but BS. That paper's only worth is if you need to spread out something on a table when you have a painting project.

"I wanted to vote for Toledo Talk as the best local blog."

That's nice, but to be technical (picky), Toledo Talk is a message board, not a blog. And yes, differences do exist.

Jan 28, 2006 - Toledo Talk thread - What is the difference between a forum and a blog?

I my favorite tea house won. Elaine's Tea - http://www.thetealady.com - they are a walk in at any time and have a cup of tea and a good chat location. It is not a old lady tea room, but fun and pretty progressive.

"Toledo Talk is a message board, not a blog."

Oops. Sorry, jr.

Maybe TCP's category next year should read: "best local blog/message board."

I have to agree that the city paper's "Best of" edition is a vehicle to promote their own advertisers. So long as people see it as that, and not take it too seriously, it's all done in good fun. It would be interesting to see what the vote tallies are for each winner. I doubt they even count the ballots, lol.
