Bashcon - Toledo Gaming Convention - Feb 19th-21st

Looking for a good time? Join more than 900 gaming fans for a weekend packed with video games, miniatures, pen and paper role-playing, and more! BASHCon XXV is Feb. 19-21, 2010, at The University of Toledo Main Campus Student Union in Toledo, Ohio.

Con Hours are:

Friday, February 19: 5:00 PM to Midnight

Saturday, February 20: 9:00 AM to Midnight

Sunday, February 21: 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM

•Massive tournaments with hundreds of dollars in prizes!
•Exhibitors Hall full of gaming goodies, from board games, to books, to dice, and more.
•Games Bazaar on Saturday. Get rid of your old stuff and get some new old stuff in exchange!

Assuming UT College of Medicine students are also in for free, I will definitely go! Even if not, I would consider it, though funds are tight after the travel for residency interviews.

I'll see if any of my friends would also like to attend. Thanks for the info!

Camel - it is free! check out their website for how you can attend for free. I went back in 2008 and it was great!

Wow - memories. I used to be a member of Bash back in the 90’s and used to help run the convention. I was mostly a D&D and Magic the Gathering player.

I’m not sure there would be much for me to do there these days since I haven’t played either in better part of a decade. It was always a good time though and I hope there convention is a success.

Does anyone know if we still have Tol Con in Toledo anymore? I believe Mind Games used to sponsor it, but since where gone, I wasn’t sure if it was happening any more. Tol Con was a lot like Bash Con, perhaps a bit bigger with more comic stuff.

Sensor, I play Magic, I got 3 generations playing at my house, and I've been to both cons a few times, but never played there, too shy, lol. wait, Mind Games is gone???? shit!! '(

I don't believe Tol Con had been around for a few years...Loved going to it.. Had a blast! Remember playing in a few games, where one of the authors of the game was running a session there.

Nana - my wife and I used to play a lot in college. We sold the bulk of our higher end cards on e-bay a few years ago and made over a $1000. I had all the good stuff - 4 of each multi-land, time twister, etc...

We used to compete in tournaments and won more then a few, but over time our interests changed. I must still have a few thousand cards (mostly commons) sitting in boxes. As the e-bay returns got less and less it was too much effort to get rid of the rest.

If I ever get off my lazy butt I'll donate them to Bash.

Bash has a 'swap' where you can trade or give away gaming related things. Brining your old cards to give away or swap would be awesome.

If not, check out 'The Game Room' to sell them at. I know the place buys Magic cards.

Since I will be vendoring at Bashcon this year, I thought it would be fun to document some of the pieces I have for sale. Here is a small sample of some 100+ kimono and obi for sale. These pieces have been graciously modeled by my stepchildren, who too love kimono.

Womans kimono, with hand painted leaves along the bottom, and a fine over all weave through all of the fabic. Silk lined.

Womans kimono, demonstrating a unique weaving technique the japanese mastered. Notice that the weave runs both both ways. This is a fine piece in near mint / new condition. This design is loomed by hand, and not a mass produced piece made by machine.

Mens Haori, a coat for kimono. Mint / New item, with delicate hand painted silk interior. This photo is of the haori turned inside out.

Tol con ended quite a few years back. I Hate to say it but Bashcon since the years when I first atended (15 years ago) has seemed to been on a steady decline. Im hopeful this year that it will be better than last though. We are running the Vampire the Masquerade LARP so I will be there for sure! I say spread the word I would hate to see Bashcon go the way of Tol con!
