Hello I was drawn to the website by Angry consumers 15 extraction post. However the site will not let me post saying "haven't been a memeber long enough". I had the same experience as her and want to offer support
Welcome, mfalcon. You seemed to be able to post just fine here ... ? I think you're good to go.
After signing up, an e-mail confirmation message is sent to the e-mail address given. Clicking on the link in the confirmation message will activate the account. After activation, new user can post comments immediately. A new user must wait one day, however, before creating a new article [thread]. This barrier is added to help deter spammers.
A small exclamation mark link has been added to the bottom of each comment, left of the "posted by" line. This link appears to logged-in users. This will probably function like the Ouch!!! command that was used in the old version of Toledo Talk.
To explain the usage and possible application of this command, I'll paraphrase from the July 2006 explanation of Ouch!!!:
A method was added that allows logged-in users to complain that a comment is inflammatory. A user can only complain once per comment. Trying to issue a second complaint causes the user to receive an error message, telling the user that he or she complained already for that comment.
After the complaint has been issued for a comment, all that happens visually for the user is that the page reloads with the comment being complained about appearing at the top of the webpage, as if the user clicked on the comment's permalink.
This is not meant to be used because one user simply disagrees with another user's viewpoint. The flag command is meant to highlight obviously offensive or troll-like comments.

I like how jr's scheme actually makes the allegedly offending comment more likely to be read. We'll see at any rate. I was not unduly put off by the previous "ouch" feature, as a reader or poster.
I signed up on Jan 2, but am still unable to create a new post. Today I became able to add comments to an existing thread, but when trying to create a new post it still states that I haven't been a member long enough. Any suggestions as to why? Thanks!
A new user has to wait two days to post a comment and three days to start a new thread. Did you create your account later in the evening on January 2? If so, it's not quite three days. You should be able to start a new thread for sure by tomorrow. If not, let me know.
Okay, sorry for jumping the gun! I've followed TT for quite awhile now, just finally got around to creating an account and participating as well. Guess I didn't realize it was 3 days. Oops. Thanks!

I can post now too. Ive been "lurking" ever since i created my name and had to wait...etc, etc. I got my login info now. Great site here. Im glad it exists and i found it.
