Onsite Car battery Replacement

Anyone know of any place that will sell you a battery and come to your house to install it? Sadly my car is out of commission and I think it's a dead battery. After trying to jump it for 2 hours it just wouldn't hold a charge. Think I left my lights on, drained it, then I had let it sit for a month or two over the winter.

Tried Battery Wholesale after Yarks recommended them but upon calling they don't.
Guess worse comes to shove I could tow it somewhere. Would do it myself, but the darn battery is kinda under the engine with two leads going to the top for jumping. Going to try it again myself by taking the tire off but not sure if that'll work.

Thanks for your time

Hey, buy the battery there, I just bought a used "blemish" on e for $25. Bring it home and install it in the driveway, it is just about the easiest part to install on a car. Usually you just require an 8MM wrench once you have the cover off, im guessing you have a Ford Contour, or newer Caddy? You might want to try Craigslist for this.

Im not a member (but probably should be) of AAA, but do they do that roadside service stuff?

coffee,
Make sure if you are trying to jump the dead one, that your jumper cables are thick. Those cheaper ones they sell will not allow the full power of the jumper battery to get to the dead one.
With good enough jumper cables, you should be able to at least get that dead car to turn over and start.
I forgot what part of town you're at. I have a good set of cables you can borrow to try and get that car moving. If not, let me know and I should be able to stop over in the next couple of days to help.

I'd go to Sears or Anderson's (if you live near those) and buy a battery charger. You could have your battery charged enough in a few hours to run it on the street and charge it up. It would probably cost less than the cost of a new battery.

Is it possible for a battery to be dead beyond repair? I had my other car jumping it for 2 hours, still couldnt get it to turn over and after unplugging nothing would come on (radio, lights, etc).

billy: AAA will give you gas if you're out and jump as part of the plan, but dont think they would put a battery in even if you had one. Of course the towing is free, depending on distance and plan, etc. Use to be a AAA member for years but let it lapse since moving here.

if the battery sat dead over the winter it is junk once it freezes and the plates get bent. AAA will come to your location and install a battery, even if you are not a member.

Try to hook up the jumper battery and turn the radio on then. If it doesn't work, something else is wrong. The jumper cables and other battery should be enough to power the radio.
If the car sat for that long, the connection between your battery and the cables might be corroded enough that there isn't even an electrical connection between the battery and the cable. So you might be only getting power to the cable and not to the battery/car.
I also have a charger you are welcome to use.

hockeyfan: would you be willing to come over Wed or Thu and take a look? If not maybe once I'm back from vacation?

Sorry for the short notice, was kind in a bind to try and sell and get a new car before the trip since not sure if my main car will make it or not, and can't toe the car in for trade lol

The radio, electrical work, windows all work when it's being jump. Seems like it tries to turn over can hear the engine start but then tick tick tick like it's just not getting enough juice even after 2 hours.

Think the cable from the jumper heads to the battery might also be bad. I drove it for about 2 months before Christmas and it would randomly stop on me. I would just try to retighten or wickle that feed line from the battery to the + jumpter terminal and I could hear the fuse box click and the car would turn on fine.

Can you see why I want to trade it in :) So prob more than one problem, but hopefully nothing expensive to fix. The O ring where the feed line fits the jumper terminal is grey-grey white so not sure if that's normal or if it was heavily oxidized. Prior to working last fall the car sat for almost 2 years but I put a new engine in it and about 3k worth of work. Basically the frame is original at this point lol

Note: had new a lot of new stuff put in both those lines from the battery to the jumper heads are old. So it might be a short/oxidiation on top of a dead battery.

Ciscoexpert: not all batteries are that easy to change. Ive seen some of the weirdest battery locations imaginable. Think one model of Lexus had it in the fender, seen a Chevy had it mounted under the windshield washer fluid tank. Had to remove a crossbar and the tank to get the battery out, wasn't fun. People who design cars don't necessarily think about working on them when they design them, same with a lot of mechanical things. As the saying goes, the engineer says "Looked good on paper".

What make and model is the car?

2000 Chrysler Concorde originally had a 2.7L engine but it blew less than a year owning it. Last year I put a 3.5L in (which really doesn't fit well) so my ex's friend had to do a lot of custom work and welding for the pipes to get it to fit).

Is the battery in the driverside front wheel well? I had a 2000 Sebring that did the same thing. I think I bought new cables and changed the battery.

Aye but passenger side. Talked with my ex's dad and said I should be able to pull it out if I take off the tire and reach in. Going to try that tonight after work.

Thanks for everyones help have a final verdict on what's wrong with the car, bad alternator.

Appreciate the offer hockeyfan. Was hoping it was just the battery but as it is at times, something more expensive.
