I've had a Blackberry phone for a while now and I've found out the my phone causes a lot of problems. When I have my phone near a TV is causes static in the picture, when I hold it up next to a speaker it causes a digital feedback noise, when I place it near an outlet it causes it to pop and also if i put my ear up to it up can hear a faint high pitched sound. I can only imagine what this could be doing to my brain. does anyone know anything about this? I've asked several of my friends who have Blackberry's and they say the same thing happens with their phone so I know it can't just be my phone.

That's weird. I've had a Blackberry Pearl since the week it came out and haven't had any of the problems you described.
Regardless, as with all mobile phones it doesn't hurt to use a the speaker phone or a bluetooth device rather than having it glued to your ear all the time.

Doesn't hurt to limit your use either. If you have to explain how your curtains looked or the color of the new carpet in the kids rooms while you shop at Krogers then maybe you need to unhook yourself from it.

Years ago I was a computer science major. I asked a similar question and here is what my professor told me.
Those sounds are called eletric interferance. That all eletriconics have an 'eletrical field' around them..its not known to be harmful but they cause issues around each other. The better the technology the better shielded from this kind of interferance.
As a whole, cellphones are suspect of being bad for you.
What you are hearing, is just the audio version of those fielsds and signals clashing.

toledolen, how do you like the pearl? I got one and have to admit that I am a little disappointed in it. Much more complicated than I expected....
