BGSU Stroh Center Update

This place looks AWESOME! They did a Fantastic job, it looks even better than the Savage renovation. Hopefully UT doesn't lose any potential recruits when the open in 2012.

Here are some new images of the both of the court design layouts, outside view, floor plans and an artist's rendering of a game day, concert and graduation.

oh wow, those renders are incredible. thanks for the link Aquaman! as a BGSU grad, it's exciting to see them continue to grow. I was on the campus this past weekend, and Barely recognized it as the school I attended 10 years ago.

typically when big construction like this happens, it's because of a large donation from alumni

WOW!!!! That arena is going to be top notch. It looks much better than Savage Arena. This is great for the University, now if they could update the rest of Doyt L Perry football stadium and Hockey Arena. All I have to say is look out UT!

That's impressive! When I first heard about BGSU's plans for a new arena I didn't think it was going to as nice as this. Kudos to BG they really impressed me with this. Sorry UT but looks like BG has one up on you.

The University (BGSU) Could not raise funds to cover the entire amount. Therefore the Remaining costs were passed onto the Students thru a raise in student fee's!!
The BGSU students were not happy with this so they held a vote to show their discontent with the University about the increase in Fee's.
UT did not have to raise student fee's to cover the cost of it's Renovation to Savage Arena!! Toledo was able to raise it's entire amount thru Donor's and Luxury Suites.

Are you kidding me? This thing is tiny! UT did a much better job with theirs. They used the existing building and made it the best in the MAC. BG is building a whole new building and raising tuition and this is all they could think of? This is ridiculous. And only 4000 seats? C'mon now. Whitmer's FieldHouse can fit more than that. The BG women have consistently been getting better and in order to bring in bigger schools, they will have to have a bigger arena. Look at the UT Women--They hosted Pitt at Savage. That's big.

mikelal24 are you kidding me??? It doesn't look that much different inside the arena other than the new addition, fresh paint and suites. Yes it's better than what is was, I'm not saying it wasn't by any means, but I'll take a new arena over a renovated one any day. 4000 seats is perfect for a MAC school, have you been to a UT game? They can't even fill up a fourth of the seats there, it's a ghost town! Even if the team was good they still couldn't fill up the place. Too much wasted space at Savage Arena. I guess the quote "if you build it they will come" failed for UT. BG did it right, 4000 seats will be a lot easy to fill then UT, plus it makes for a loud energetic place.

I'm gonna have to agree with renegade on this one. Savage Arena is just too big for a MAC school. 4,000 seats will be perfect for BGSU. I've been to several UT and BG men's and women's basketball games over the years and the atmosphere is much better in a smaller venue than a larger one. The energy is much better and you feel closer to the action in a smaller venue. Bigger is not always better! What the point of having all those seats when you can't fill them up? What they can have concerts there? Good Luck! They will have a hard time getting acts now that we have The Huntington Center. It doesn't matter how good the team is, they will never be able to fill the seats at a basketball game. Look at the Rockets football team when they were good, they couldn't fill up the stands in the stadium then. I've seen HS games fill up more seats than a Rockets game for both basketball and football at UT. If they gave tickets away they still wouldn't get people in the stands, myself included. The problem is the majority of people(including students) around here care more about Ohio State, Michigan and Notre Dame sports than the local universities including myself.

First of all, UT couldn't fill their stands because the men's team had by far the worst season in the history of the school. Look at the BG/UT women's game. The game was sold out. I'm not saying that you're going to fill every game up but as the team gets better and bigger schools come into town, the arena will fill up. And how does the arena look the same? The whole arena is different! Look at before and after photos of the inside. You wouldn't even recognize that it's the same arena. Let's get real here...Sure the BG arena may look nice outside and in but hey it's brand new! UT turned the old savage into the best in the MAC. The exterior doesn't even need anything. Go there and check out the arena. Walk through the suites and on the court. It's a completely different atmosphere!

As Good as the BG Women have Been the last 9 Years their game Attendance Does not reflect that.

Toledo Women Have Lead the MAC Conference in Attendance for Twenty (20) Years Straight. Yes that is twenty Years!!! This information came from MAC itself.

The 2009-2010 Season Toledo Women again lead the League with a Overall Attendance of 2035, while Home Attendance was 2755. This record was accomplished even during five straight losing season's (2004-2008).
Toledo Women was also able to draw a Top 5 Women's ranked team in 2001 by the Name of Duke University and Defeated them . The Attendance for That Game was 5002, That was accomplished in the Old Savage Hall!!

The BG Women only averaged 1620 per Home game, while Overall is average of 1640. So with those Low Numbers Due You Think BG Women can fill the New Arena game in and game out? Even with the success the Program has Had.
