Anybody know anyone who paints cars on the side? I have a 1995 buick that runs well but is in need of a paint job.
Need old car painted

Hi. Can I ask a few questions?
1-Why do you want the entire car painted? Change color? All faded, etc?
2-95 buick what model? 2 or 4 door?
3-Is there any nicks, scratches, or dents that need fixed also before paint?
4-Are you looking for a decent shiny paint job or a car show perfect type job?
Let me know and I should be able to help with some suggestions.
1.I want to keep same color -medium garnet red
the hood, trunk, and roof are faded
2. 95 buick lesabre custom 4dr
3.no dents , a few scratches
4.decent paint job
There is no way some shops can compete with a Maaco special.
But if you're looking for something better, I can do what you're looking for at about $500 - $700 depending on the cost of the paint and materials.
If this sounds like what you're looking for, post and I'll give you my email to contact me.

Yeah, and the results of that low price special look it, too. In one sense, there isn't anything wrong with Maaco unless you do not realize that you really do get what you pay for.
ckljy, you can save some money by doing the sanding and taping yourself. Even if the painter (hockeyfan, for instance, whom I happen to know to be good at what he does) has to add a little more work on top of what you do, you can still knock 8 to 10 hours off the cost of a paint job.
Painting a car and having the paint job look good afterward involves a ton of preparation work and minute attention to detail. I don't have the patience for it, but solid preparation is a large part of the work, and even a moke like me can do that much without screwing up too badly.
Do not be surprised or offended if the professional painter looks at your 24 man hours of work and tells you it's a good beginning, then points out a dozen or so errors. If it were real easy, the professional body man wouldn't have a career.
The actual painting is part art form and part skill, combined with good quality materials. Let the person actually painting the car select materials, and you'll see seriously good results.
Not a commercial but the guy at Al Smith's Chrysler in BG does a great job and very reasonable.
