Its Memorial Day weekend. Fun, sun, BBQ's, golf and the end of the school season. All great ways to celebrate. But, lets not forget the real meaning and purpose of the holiday.
Look for, be aware of, and seek out veterans and their families. If a car at the gas pump has a veteran sticker or plate, thank the driver. If you see a soldier, airman, marine or swabby in uniform at a restaurant, offer to pay their meal or pick up the tip. Visit elderly veterans in your neighborhood and cut the grass or offer a cold one.
Likewise, do the same for veteran's families.
Thank you to all who have served, continue to serve, and gave the ultimate sacrifice.
Couldn't have said it any better. Even if you don't agree with what is going on it's not about that, it's about the men and woman who put their lives on the line everyday (past and present) that deserve that respect.

Thank you to all veterans, their families, and loved ones. Especially those who gave their lives. It is not a veteran's decision to choose the reasons for doing what they do. It is what they are ordered to do. At anytime they can be called upon to give their lives in the name of this great country. That alone deserves more respect than I can put into words.
Sad, but more attention is given to a local singer than to most veterans.

We should be thanking and honoring all our vets, but one place where you can easily find vets wasn't mentioned - sitting on street corners and sleeping under bridges. A quarter of all homeless people are veterans. People should remember that when they try to flee poverty by isolating themselves in the "Village" and support aggressive police tactics to keep out the poor. You are turning your back on those who have fought for our freedom.
