Residents got copies of the program in with our newsletter last week.
This year's festival looks to be the best one since I've lived in Toledo.
HIGHLIGHTS:
-- There is going to be a 5K race going through the neighborhood with the Toledo Symphony serenading the runners at various spots along the route.
-- The is the first time I've seen a BEER TENT during festival. A lot of the residents know you can walk up to just about any porch and get a beer from a neighbor, but a lot of the visitors from the suburbs don't know that.
-- There is going to be a classic trolley (YAY) route through the neighborhood for visitors to use to get around.
-- Several streets will be closed down. The major route closed will be Scottwood from Bancroft to Delaware.
-- Food (and beer for that matter) will now be at The Arboretum which is located at Delaware and Scottwood--along with the food location at Woodruff. There will also be another entertainment stage. For the past few years everything seemed to be going on down at Woodruff (by the Glass Pavillion). Now there's more to go around to and visit.
You'll be able to pick up your copy of the program at any of the info booths this weekend.

A few months ago, the Columbus Dispatch newspaper did a nice write-up on the Mansion View Inn, located at 2035 Bancroft Blvd.

I toured the place some years ago, during the Old West End Festival.
Can you sign up for the 5k the day of the race?
Yep, toledoramblingman, there is registration that morning (7:30am) at the Professional Building, 1838 Parkwood Avenue.

Wouldn't Detroit and Central Avenues be a better location for this bash? A large vacant area for tents and such.
We have a couple lovely parks/gardens that are actually within the old west end for tents. ;)
looking forward to a nice neighborhood walk, check out the arts, yard sales, and be invited to partake in an icy cold beverage.
@rch101: Detroit and Central falls outside the Historic District, and, is a arterial intersection in the city. There's plenty on room within the neighborhood.
@Hoops: Spot on!
so much to do this weekend! can't wait!
prairie, I ment within the neighborhood area such as Nestlewood, Ambia, Lawrence, Arcadia and such. Many of these homes were also built before 1900 and that area has always been considered the "Old West End" as far back as I can remember.
Those areas have not been kept up. Their residents didn't get together in the 70s to make sure the OWE was placed on the National Register of Historic Places, with a neighborhood association focused on preservation and revitalization, etc. And they aren't "Old West End".
Old west End is officially and legally the area inside the boundary lines of Monroe, Collingwood, Detroit and Central.
Didn’t they used to sell beer at this festival? Why did they stop? That is a big draw for me erp.
Were bringing back the beer garden this year. It's going to be right in the middle of the neighborhood at the arboretum off of Delaware. Every two hours a different non profit will be staffing the beer garden and sharing in the profits. I'll be running it from 6-8 on Saturday with $ going to the arts commission!
Well best of luck with that. I hope the weather holds up for the entire event. Can’t make it myself this year, but have enjoyed it in the past.
beer rules
Lots of people in the area will do yard sales and garage sales as well for those of you inclined.
One man's junk is another man's treasure !
Thank you upso for the boundry definition. For a minute there I was losing my identy...
Best of luck on the Festival.
