There is still unlimited trash pick up as of right now in Lucas county.
From their site it is called Overflow and Bulky Items:
"Please call (419) 936 - 2511 to schedule overflow/bulk collection. Forty-eight (48) business hour notice before your collection day is required.
Beginning Monday, February 8, 2010, the City of Toledo will ask residents needing bulk or overflow pick-up to call 48 business hours prior to their collection day to ensure collection. Calls must be received by 4:00 p.m. 48 hours prior to their collection to ensure that homes are placed on the appropriate pick-up route. Homes needing Monday collection of bulk or overflow items should call by 4:00 p.m. on the Thursday before service is needed.
The changes are being made to ensure that residents can continue to rely on dependable pick-up service."
Well the one arm bandits kinda killed unlimited trash pickup. at least every week version of it.

Unlimited is defined as 5 to 10 bags, anything else you have to hire out for. I found this out when a neighbor next door was refused pick-up by the city 2 weeks ago. The truck drove up, a guy got out, said it was "too much" , and without picking up a single bag of trash, drove away. A Supervisor was called and agreed that it was too much to pick up. The homeowner just about blew a gasket wanting to know what his taxes were paying for, but in the end he had to hire a private company to haul it away. And by the way...it was alot of trash, but bagged up neatly to be taken away.
