Dear People, Please Check Your F**king Brake Lights

Too many f**king idiots running around the area with at least one light out, saw TWO of them today with BOTH SIDES out (only the small center one working). Too bad Ohio barely does any vehicle inspections any more. And if the cops have nothing better to do, why aren't they stopping these people to warn them?

Drug busts are sexier, and they fill the prisons with millions of people, thus ensuring a stable and lucrative prison industry in this country. Sheesh - don't you know anything, A/C?

:-)

They are stopping them: the blacks and hispanics in the poor parts of town, as a pretext to search for drugs.

As well they should.

Kind of keeps us on our toes, doesn't it? We're less likely to tailgate.

I hear the SOP in Ottawa Hills involves warning shots.

Twice in the last week I found myself behind the same, (as I refer to it) Sanford & Son type pickup truck. Rickety, falling apart, all kinds of crap stuffed into the bed. Not ONE working brake light OR tail light. Probably waiting for someone to rear end him so he can sue.

That, along with people not using their turn signals is enough to drive me insane!

Amen Upso, and those people have WORKING lights.

FYI Ohio law requires two working stop lights, unless you drive a Sanford and Son pick up or car manufactured before Jan. 1 1967. Then , only one working light is acceptable.

Any responsible auto owner does a light check every so often. I do it myself, and I've learned to check for the return glow from nearby structures, so I don't even need to get out of the car to perform the check. Of course, I did mount a few mirrors in my garage, but being predictably cheap, they are too small and I need to replace 'em with larger versions.

On a related note, when I want to check my rear lights I back into a parking space in front of a storefront window and use my rearview mirror to check the reflection from the window.

I was told that's what wives are for. He brakes, I stand behind and check.

Heh Heh! There are times when I might stand off to the side a bit.

Anyone else notice these bulbs burn out quickly? Actually have bulbs in every glovebox at work and home.

Bulbs burn out quicker if they have oil/grease/dirt on them... handle them with a paper towel. FYI they do have some LED bulbs now but how effective they are and how well they fit your brake lights vary. most of them are primarily for motorcycles, too.
