The entire community has a specific problem when it's reported that five young people shot at a TPD Officer when he was making a stop and performing his duty.
Bad enough they fired at a Peace Officer, but an Irish officer? That's where the gd line gets drawn. Message has to be sent with no equivocation that s*** stops now.

He's going to be fine. Not sure what being Irish has anything to do with it. They have the guys in custody... at least most of them.

What is the Irish connection and what is the "specific problem" you're referring to? Bad kids? What am I missing here...?
Anybody dumb enough to fire a gun at a Peace Officer. The officer could have been
of Polish descent... that doesn't matter.
Horrible story, wish there was another source besides the blade, that weblink is making my eyes bleed, what's with the repeating Lourdes college background, ouch.
Anyway, my prayers are with the officer and his family.

Sorry I misunderstood your previous post Mariner. I agree, it's an awful crime. As a huge supporter of our men (and women) in blue, my heart goes out to the force.
Well, it's encouraging that the officer pursued the suspects determinedly even though he was being fired on. His wound was minor enough that he was treated and released, and most importantly of all, the suspects are in custody and not dead from being taken into custody. The justice system still functions in the face of adversity. I'd say we are fortunate.

Saw on the news so far those arrested have appeared to be some lame wannabe cholo gangstas. Prison is going to be their wake-up call.

Unfortunately they will be provided with room/board, free college education, and a vast amount of community help programs the average struggling middle class citizen could never dream of getting. America the more you crap your pants, the more money you get from Uncle Sam.
The sad part is we have manifested a culture where it is acceptable to open fire on a public street. Where cops are the bad guys and criminals are heroes. Just ask a gangsta rap song that is playing in MTV right now.

I thought MTV was the outlet for TV shows that show:
a.) Whiny 16 year old girls complaining they didn't get a Mercedes for their birthday
b.) Other teenage girls who have become pregnant by who knows
c.) over-privliged children of celebrities in SoCal starring in "reality" shows that are completely scripted
BUT--I'm glad to see MTV bringing up the intelligence level by agreeing with Mike Judge to bring back Beavis and Butthead later this year!

I don't think anyone in prison has access to a free college education, nor a "vast amount of community help programs," whatever that means. Some people around here seem to build up a lot of anger toward things they don't really understand.
