South Toledo Dog Park...

There was a thread before about a Dog Park. Last I heard it was canceled or the person putting it together couldn't raise enough capital or was having problems with people protesting it.

Vaguely remember seeing a pictures with protesters holding a sign "No poop" implying there would be feces everywhere around the park.

Personally I hope they open one.

1- When buying a dog make sure you have the appropriate amount of space on your property for the dog to run off leash. You may need to purchase fences at this time also.

2- To socialize your dog, invite other neighborhood dogs over for play dates in your fenced in yard.

I've had dogs that did not have enough room in the yard to run around. That shouldn't exclude people from adopting dogs. You can always walk them in the neighborhood, which I did till the dogs were exhausted. They usually turned around when I wanted to walk some more so they could go home. There were also times when I would walk to a nearby field or park and let them run around. It all depends on the type of dog you adopt, too. If you get a breed that's high energy, better get your running shoes ready. Or, you may want to enroll the dog in a doggy day care facility for an hour a few times per week. But it can be costly. Many people planning to adopt dogs don't realize that there are high energy breeds that need very active environments, or they will become destructive. Unfortunately, that's how they end up in the pound or shelter.
