This is very sad. Although it's not included in this story,I'm told by a relative of the couple that their cat woke them up as the house filled with smoke to alert them of the fire, and they were able to flee. Unfortunately, they thought the cat was behind them, but it wasn't and died in the fire.

You were right, Renigade. Looks like The Blah is reading Toledo Talk, since it now has in its article that the cat alerted the owners to the fire, then perished in the fire.

I feel bad for the owners. Not only did they lose their home, but their cat, too. That sucks. I am surprised to hear that they thought the cat was following them out the door. Maybe this is their first cat. I know mine would not follow me out the door. I would have to grab him and run. I could not leave without knowing he is with me. Poor cat saved their lives.
That is so sad....
