Leah worked for Foodtown and Rich Iott for 16 years. She was 3 months pregnant when she was notified she would no longer be employed at Foodtown in 2003. This is her story.

Iott a Job Destroyer!

Can Leah get a job at the Food Town on Central avenue, or at the location on Secor @ Sterns ?
Food Town knows how to make a good coconut-custard pie.

Well, at least in the past 7 years she looks like she eats well, life must be kinda ok. Maybe if she didnt blame her life ups and downs on others, things would improve...

I have no opinion on Rich Lott right now, but just because some woman employee got fired or layed off doesn't mean he's a bad guy.
It means he can make the hard decisions. I'd rather have that then all the crap that's been shoved in our ears about how great everything is.
I have no sympathy for this woman whatsoever. Nobody fell out of the womb responsible to "Give" me a job because I "Need" one. Nobody is responsible to provide me job security - I earn these. My success in life is my responsibility! Nobody is responsible because you have minimal job skills and never decided to further your education and make yourself more marketable... oh... and get pregnant and then blame your poverty on Rich Iott. You made the choice honey!
Iott was brilliant to get out of this market when he did. These employees who dub themselves the reason for Food Town success must certainly have all found better careers since they were so skilled and valuable. Hey Food Town Employees - If you want job security why don't you all bundle your resources together and start a business? Oh, not quite up to the challenge are you... Self checkout... that's the way to go!

Danneskjold is the "thank you sir, may I please have another" type.
Someone needs to explain to me how ANYONE else OWES someone a job.
dhr, that was pretty funny. Seriously. Nice.

Well so far we've heard from two former FoodTown employees with 4,998 to go!
Can't help but wonder after all these years the FoodTown in the picture is still sporting the stylish plywood exterior. The blighted building must be a proud monument to the Iott family legacy!
"still sporting the stylish plywood exterior."
That's a common theme throughout Toledo.
A casual observation from someone paying scant attention to Marcy-Rich: I don't recall this much rhetoric in the past about a Marcy Kraptur election. She must be getting challenged this time because normally it's a non-existent, unnecessary campaign due to a lack of opposition.
I'm guessing Marcy is spending or will spend more money than usual on getting re-elected. If that's true, even if she wins, it will mean she would not have been able to divert some of her unspent campaign war chest to other Democrats in close elections like she and many other safe-seat Democrats did in 2006 as part of a brilliant strategy to unseat Republican incumbents in the House.
In my opinion, the 2006 Democrat House wins were at least partly a result of Howard Dean's "challenge everywhere" strategy that he advanced years earlier. Shifting campaign money around helps make safe-seat races surprisingly close though still a loss for the underdog, and it makes tight races a possible win for the challenger. It forces the incumbent to spend more money than expected, preventing the incumbent from helping fellow politicians who are in even tighter races.
It's hard to believe that Marcy would face even a minimal challenge from Rich in such a Blue district, but if she is, then that could spell trouble for her colleagues in the Purple districts.
That is an excellent fact check article JackRB, I will make sure to print it off to my relatives who support Kaptur.

Perhaps Iott, in retrospect, could be criticized for supporting the sale of the company
Yea, it's great.
Most of what is printed above="Iott's rich, and I'm not--------Waaaaaaaa, Waaaaaaaaa, Waaaaaaaa!"
Work hard and maybe one day you will have two pennies to rub together.
Yeah because Ms Kaptur really know business right? Because I can't find where she has ever run one or for that matter even worked at one. Her district has hemorrhaged business, but you all just want more of the same.
She is nothing but a career politician (Kaptur had been a well-known party activist and volunteer since age 13) who has no idea what it is like to live in the real world. She has never "punched a clock" and lived off of campaign donations all her life. Her "I'm for the little guy" is very laughable, before you go painting Iott as the spoiled rich boy you better check your facts.
She is the poster child for term limits and my god that is one ugly poster.
Did that take you all weekend to think up, posterboy?
Iott has no chance and I love the fact that he is spending all his blood money on worthless ads.
Mwuahahahahah!!!
I am assuming Leah now works for job creator Marcy in either Washington or her Toledo office - is that correct?
Thank you Marcy for giving us all good paying jobs and free health care.
