Enjoyed Hereafter, though some folks are put off by the somewhat slow pace (especially people who like action or comedy films, where stuff happens every 30 seconds). The film's probing questions stick with you afterward, so in terms of a ratio of dollars:ponderance, this is a film that pays residuals to its viewers.

Saw RED last weekend. Really enjoyed it. Was a good action comedy. I laughed, things blew up, it was a great date night. Highly recommend if that's your cup of tea.

Second "thumbs up" for "RED". Great cast, fun movie. Love it when the old farts get together to do movies. Thought it was better than "The Replacements" (another getting-the-old-farts-together-for-a-movie flick).

My husband and I saw Hereafter a couple of weeks ago and did not like it at all. Sorry that I didn't find it thought provoking....just boring. If the other couple had not bought the tickets we probably would have left early.

ok HM - what 'probing questions' are you talking about, or would that be a spoiler?

For a great date night, I don't see anything that would beat Jackass 3D. That film has it all - action, comedy and sober philosophy all rolled into one.

Billy: what happens when we die? Is this all there is? Can the present world and any afterworlds intersect? That sort of stuff.

What do you mean, what happens when we die? What is this, some kind of trick question or something? What happens... I don't know about you HistoryMike. I think all that book larnin' is giving you some strange ideas.

Ferinstance, should you cash in your chips prematurely, we'll all get our funeral suits on and congregate at the funeral home for the funeral. We'll try not to think about how hot Mrs. HistoryMike looks in black. If it looks like the service is a real stem-winder, we'll sneak outside for a smoke and a little snort of Jack Daniels to ward off the cold. When they ask if anyone would like to say a few words I'll wait a little bit, then go up to the podium and tell about the time you destroyed part of the coffee house at our get together. Then I'll out with the blues harp and finish with a little song...

Bring out your rubber tired surrey
Bring out your rubber tired hack
There's a history professor headed for the graveyard
And none is coming back

Likely the harp will encourage the dogs to join in. Then we'll load you up in the corpse caddy and start the procession out to the graveyard. We'll drive real slow and hold up traffic. And then we'll have the band play Nearer My God to Thee as they lower you into the ground. GZ and I will spill a little whiskey on you as the sky pilot finishes his remarks. Then we'll have the band play When The Saints Come Marching In as we head off for the wake. Yeah!

Gonna dance out of both my shoes
When they play them Jelly Roll blues
Tomorrow night at History Mike's wake

What a party!

Jack - context!!!!

HM made a statement, I asked him a question about it and he answered me. In that context his post makes 100% sense and yours comes off a bit asinine

Heh - I have a thick skin and take the above comment in the debauched/sardonic spirit in which it was composed.

Yeah billy, what he said. Besides, I think it was more than just a bit.
