... right next to Five Guys Burgers, in the Westgate Plaza. The Five Guys franchisee is going to operate it. I had frozen custard once in St. Louis. It was awesome. People stood in line for 45 minutes to get served; it was that good. Do we have any frozen custard here in T-town already?

agree it's good stuff, can't wait to give it a try locally. Thanks for the heads up.

Lots of luck to Ritter's. There were two frozen custard shops on Holland-Sylvania Road that had to close due to declining sales. One was near Bancroft near Deez Restaurant, the other near Airport Highway near Penn Station.
Westgate is prime real estate. Lots of car traffic, good surrounding neighborhoods and density.
Ted Drewes is the famous frozen custard in St. Louis. It's good, but damn it is heavy on the gut (when you eat it AND the after affects--weight gain). Tastes great, super-rich flavor.
I always saw people eating large "concretes" (super thick frozen custard) with no problem while I could only get through a small without getting sick.

I don't think I've ever had frozen custard - is the taste something significantly different than a high quality ice cream?

I think it's just about as rich as the high quality ice cream. Bit of a different texture and very flavorful. Most people I knew in St. Louis who got it usually put all kinds of toppings/mixers into it.
Put it this way: it's worth trying at least once.

Right, flinty, I forgot all about the old Cosmic Custard. I tend to blame the H.Sylv. strip mall for an early business failure -- there's not a whole lot in there, even after being open for so many years. The $5 store is good, but as with everything there, I never think to turn into the driveway because I'm always in the wrong lane, going somewhere else.
Tried Ritter's last weekend. It was very, very good!
