It Only Gets More Strange For Andrew Z

OK I guess I should have said stranger but I don't know how to edit the Title.
Chalk it up to a Bowsher Education.

Them darn pesky Perrysburg police are picking on him !
Let's hear you tell us one more time how "innocent" you are, Andrew.
If you are truly innocent - take it to trial !
But I don't think so......

soooooo... he has drug issues?

I'll be the staunchy right wing bastard you all think I am most of the time but I've seen chemical addictions destroy the lives of good people. While he deserves to be held be held fully responsible for his actions, I hope he can get help.
Pathological Liar - look it up.

Molsonator, 'more strange' sounds right to me. it would either be that or just 'stranger'. 'more stranger' sounds weird. I'm not an English Teacher, I just play one on the net. ;p
Guess all that added pressure of being Toledo's Weight Loss Czar caught up to him.
Who's the next czar gonna be? I wish him/her well.
Nana - I think you drop the more and just say stranger. Ms. Papps @ BHS would not be happy with me. Great English teacher - bad student.

I'm not saying that any of this should stop Andrew Z from experiencing the consequences of his actions, but I'm wondering if his dramatic weight loss has possibly resulted in a transfer addiction.
Something is definitely going on here with this man.

Interesting post on The Blade's site:
"Are you Kidding me!
This is too funny, rehab to avoid conviction? The lawyer said not much of a social drinker, what does that mean? As a former employee I NEVER saw Andrew drink, even when the rest of us were. His own mother and uncle said he never drank or used drugs. I can testify that alcohol played no part in his bad bussiness decisions, it was something far more intoxicating- his own ego! He thought with his local celebrity status he would never fail and was untouchable."

I think only a suspension right now. He is loving all of the attention on facebook. According to the article, he is not eligible for the intervention program because of a 1989 violation in California, unless the judge ignores it.
A month ago he held a news conference professing his innocence. Go be a DJ in your momma's basement. Just had another kid, bet the wifey is impressed with her donor/husband.
It is amazing how the anonymity of the internet brings out the hatred of TalkToledo posters.
Also, I would reckon that this is emblematic of Toledoans as a whole; always glass half-empty and looking to criticize.
Merry Christmas.
Hatred?
Or is it that yet another person who is in the public eye has lied his way into another headline.
1-On the radio and uses this popularity as a "in" to open a pizza place (no problem with that)
2-Pizza place gets shut down due to non-payment of rent
3-Accuses accountant of stealing his money and not paying his bills
4-His uncle and a "buddy" attempt break in of pizza store
5-Also accused of planning break in, but accuses police officers of "targeting him"
6-During arraignment, brings to lite that he has an alcohol problem. On his facebook, he claims he NEVER drank until he opened his pizza place at the end of last year. That means he has spent at least over $50,000 in less than a year on booze.
So, here we sit following this crap story realizing that he has lied, possibly from the beginning. I don't care one way or another for Andrew Z, but he's a liar. First about accusing the police of "targeting" him when they weren't and he knew it, then, claiming he has a drinking problem when if he really did, he did an awful good job of hiding it. How does someone in the public eye so much, hide a drinking problem so well? It's not like he could get wasted in his basement and sleep it off the next day. The guy had to be at work first thing in morning. Did he ever appear drunk on the radio? This is a serious drunk. He lied, stole, ruined his business and his career. We're not talking about having one too many and over-sleeping in the morning.
Toledoans as a whole are not "half-empty" people and do not look to criticize, but call a spade, a spade.
I saw him and his wife a week or so ago. Won't say where or for what, but was very humbling. Guess that's why I'm leaning more toward forgiving and keeping an open mind till this is all out in the open.
Seeing his pregnant wife and he together really kinda made it more real. For better or worse he is a real person. The discussion there was also interesting considering all that's going on for him.
For his wife and kids sake I hope it get's worked out in fair matter.
Hope I don't unleash the wrath of folks here :) People should pay for what they do wrong and make things right. I'm just not passing judgment yet.

I have no problem with people making mistakes. Everone does and has. The problem I have is not owing up to it. If you break the law, do something wrong, fine. But pay when you get caught.
Playing the "addiction" game is suspect to me. Yes, I'm passing judgement, but only through what information I have. If I was really in a position of being a judge or jury, I could listen to all the evidence and then make an education decision. But, for now, seems like Mr Z. is dodging responsiblity.
I think it is acceptable to say one can have empathy for the man while expecting him to face the consequences of his actions. Recovery isn't meant to be a "way out" of the legal shit you have gotten yourself into.
This turn of events is almost entertaining. Almost. He's taking a lot of people down with him.
I hope he lets us know how step 5, 8 and 9 go.

He should focus on Step 1, but I don't think he will even get past that one.
The only problem he seems to be admitting to is getting caught.
BTW - what is up with all these looney-tunes coming out of Perrysburg and looting citizens of Toledo ?
1) Dan Burns, Thief Emeritus - pled today to engaging in corrupt activity to steal over half-a-mil from TPS.
2) Andreww Zepeda - the saga continues and speaks for itself.
3) Carleton Finkbeiner - his financial dealings were and are legendary. (and quite suspect).
Maybe it is something in the water.

Unbelievable. The elite commit crimes and then use legal esoterica to get off scot free. From the above article:
"Through his lawyer, he requested an intervention in lieu of conviction, which allows a court to permit a criminal defendant to enter a treatment program instead of going through a trial and conviction, and emerge with a clean record."
So, when I commit a crime, I can just claim that I'm a drunk and that instead of a trial and conviction, I should instead go through a treatment program and emerge NOT A FELON?
Firing is too good for him. Justice has to come from the private sector since our courts are clearly failing us.
yes, GZ - Zepeda asks a lot of the judge with his motion in this case....that does not mean that his request will be granted.
It appears to me that his hired liar, ooops - I mean lawyer, is merely trying to calm AZ down with the talk talk that lawyers talk. Fruitless motions are still very billable hours and it looks like BigBoy is going to the cleaners on this one.
It still looks to me like he will be booking a room in Orient, Ohio with Bubba in the near future......

Here is a video of Andrew Z applying duct-tape to his pubic hairs, during what appears to be a live on-air Kiss FM radio broadcast :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vq5e5KipJYA
.
Toledo doesn't need garbage comedy acts like this.
I know a guy that goes to CedarCreek church, that decided to take his family to dinner at Andrew Z's restaurant one afternoon, for a birthday party.
When they got there, they were surprised (and offended) when they saw an employee walking around the place, wearing a shirt that read "How do my ballz taste ?" - a CRUDE reference to some kind of Hot Ballz; an item on the menu.
Toledo will be much better off in 2011, with Andrew Z off the radio, and (his buddy) Ben Konop not in office anymore.

Heck, I thought everyone remembered when Ben Konop named FatAndy "Lucas County Weight Loss Czar". I think it was at that point that AZ began to exhibit signs of severe cranial swelling.
The irony of that whole situation is what prompted me to call him FatAndrew, to which some took offense. They did not take offense to him being named weight loss czar and then gaining more pounds than ever. Sorta like Carty's version of Toledo's weight loss czar - Tom Amstutz. He weighs more than ever. You remember that farce, don't you ?
My main objection is people that con the public into believing they are something they are not - whether it be politicians, weight-loss czars, fat DJ's, etc.

Ryan, I try not to pay attention to too much trivia. When people start naming "Czars", that pretty much means it's trivial. And my skepticism is well-founded: AZ is a Fatty McFatmaster, yet was given a title pertaining to weight loss. It's roundly absurd... much like what you tend to say when you post. Outgoing Konop should have named you "Sanity Czar" long ago, to keep up the apparent tradition of absurdity.
Perhaps someone should whisper to AZ that if he is going to be convincing in terms of wanting and needing recovery, he needs a dose of humility.
Addicts play victim quite well.
There are 12 step meetings all over town every day of the week, Andrew. What are you waiting for? For the judge to say you can do THAT instead of Jail?

GZ, "AZ is a Fatty McFatmaster," too funny but sad. I think high school career counselors should tell their students of the hazards of becoming a radio jock. Too often it becomes a health hazard requiring an intervention by Richard Simmons.
Andrew, Andrew, Andrew.
You crack me up.
A two-bit DJ lucks into his own morning show and being named a title by some inexperienced commissioner, shows his true capacity as a human being by stealing and lying then trying to manipulate the court system to favor you over something you don't "allegedly" have a problem with?
Then ya gone went and got fired.
Awesome stuff, buddy.
Are you still the fat-ass czar? Can you now function with that title full-time?
Who planned out your future, exactly, Andrew?
I'm not casting stones, Andrew, I'm just watching you make your own bed.

Just cleaned up the coffee I spit out as I read the Blade's article on the fat czar. He can't understand why he could not keep his job like Sheriff Telb did during his legal troubles!! If he is still trying for alcohol intervention or even insanity, it might work based on this line of thinking.
This guy AZ is a train wreck that just re-wrecks every day. When will it be over!!?? I am really done with it.....

I would love to object to this (as a professional DJ/radio guy for 18 years), but I really can't. It's true: lots of my brethren have big fat asses. They don't take care of themselves. Thanks to restaurant clients, there's always high calorie food around the office and the sometimes odd hours don't do much for your metabolism.
Somehow I started at age 17 at 6'1" and 175lbs and got out at age 36 at 6'1" 190lbs. Guess I was lucky.

Watch yourself oldhometown are you insinuating that there could possibly be some sort of "arrangement" between the the sponsors and the hosts? I've brought this up before and was chastised for it. You are saying because the radio hosts are obese that they are being fed slop from the sponsors trough? You know I believe that this is the truth and I would hope the listeners realize it. So next time the host tries and sell you some gold or a sleep# bed be aware of who's really benefiting from this. The consumer? Hahahaaaa.....

It's called advertising and it has been around for 85 years (first advertisements on radio aired somewhere around 1924-25). Yes, on-air folks get some sort of payment for endorsing a product on the air, as they have from the times of Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, and Jack Benny on the radio.
This is not new, nor a sinister plot.
As far as (some) radio hosts being being obese, its deeper than whatever food a sponsor brings over (which the whole station usually shares, not just the on-air people). I worked with a guy (I was on PM drive, he was nights) who brought in a bag from McDonalds/Wendy's/Arby's/KFC every day, Monday-Friday, for dinner in the studio. He was single, it was quick and tasty, and fueled him through a 5 hour show. And, as you may have guessed, he put on at least 50 pounds in the 3 years I knew him. He just didn't take care of himself--sat on his ass every night playing music and slept all day (aaah, the good old days).

I here the radio hosts criticize union workers as being lazy and overpaid. Your depiction makes me wonder if this group is hypocritical. I mean if you go to GM or Jeep you would have a hard time finding a obese rotund factory worker today. This is why most have a 30 an out retirement because the workload is so great their bodies just wear out. But from your experience sounds like they just drop over from fat related disease caused by a sedentary lifestyle that along with laziness of not taking care of their bodies is running up health care costs for all of us.
Howard Stern is pretty healthy looking.
posted by toledolen_ on Dec 18, 2010 at 12:36:02 pm #
TL--Howard has been pretty health-conscious over the past few years. I think the whole "Fartman" episode (mid-1990's) was when he was at his heaviest. I would gather that for $500 million over 5 years, Howard probably has a personal chef!
Wolf--you're telling me union workers are the picture of health, with diets that match the food pyramid with no alcohol or tobacco use? It's just the work that wears them down? OK.....
posted by oldhometown on Dec 18, 2010 at 02:13:51 pm #
No, on general auto workers are not obese. Most are on their feet 10 hours a day with little time to stuff their faces with free food. I'm just saying percentage wise more have no weight problems. The alcohol use is overblown, a problem that is generally from the past. The work loads are too great to be a screwup like back in the day, you have to use your mind because of all the technology. Now tobacco use is a problem. I know of these thing because I was employed for thirty + years in the auto industry.
Naming Andrew Zepeda as a "weight loss czar" is as absurd as naming GuestZero a "manners czar". LOL!
oldhometown said: "It's true: lots of my brethren have big fat asses. They don't take care of themselves."
There's no sane reason for that, when other desk jobbers manage to control their weight. I speculate it's because radio-hosting attracts a particular type of BLOWHARD whose viewpoint and mental stance lead to self-indulgent behavior, like compulsive eating.
AZ could have put an exerbike in his studio. He chose not to. He could have spent some of his time off-shift just walking around the neighborhood of his doubtlessly expensive home. He chose not to. He just raged and ate like a fiend. It's probably part of a larger addict personality, that he's still responsible for.
From the local paper, Westfield Mall is now going after him for a default on a signed lease agreement related to renting a small space or kiosk.
Westield Mall hates him and they are trying to smear him... I am just anticipating the response!

Hmmm... while I am not defending Andrew Z's efforts to weasel out of paying payroll and sales taxes, I wonder why the state did not lump all of this together in the earlier criminal case. Maybe Andrew Z had each business separately incorporated...
Well, more courtroom drama a-coming for Andrew Z, so we had better pop some additional bags of Orville Reddenbacher as we watch the next phase. Also, this is likely to delay Andrew Z's return to the airwaves, since his next employer will probably be reluctant to ink a deal with a radio personality facing multiple first-degree misdemeanor charges.

The level of vitriol and hatred leveled at Andrew Z shocks me. I could understand if you were one of his former employees who didn't get paid, or if the guy somehow wronged you. But most of what I see is simple reveling in the downfall of a guy who did well, overdid it, and fell hard.
