Sorry if there'a a pre-existing 'cue thread. We went to Deet's on Reynolds, across from the old Maumee 18 theater, in a strip mall with Chipotle. I'll definitely be going back to try the bbq nachos. The pulled pork sandwich was great, and side orders are tasty and creative (curly mac-and-cheese, phenomenal coleslaw).
They have ribs, but we didn't try them. Next time. Also, there's a $35 sampler platter which looks like they'll bring the whole kitchen to your table. Smoked chicken is also available. They have a microbrew root beer in the soda dispenser.
There are 2 sauce choices: really sweet, and spicy with a unique burn -- not a red-hot, blistering experience, but very flavorful. The beans were pretty good - nothing special, but I was in a bean mood. They will come out and roast a whole hog on your lawn if you can get about 100 people together. Maybe we TTers should have a convention catered by them. In the parking lot of a Mexican restaurant.
Thanks for the review. I had not even heard of this place. How's the service/cleanliness/atmosphere?
The place is top notch and even better, it's local.

I stopped in when my youngest was getting a hiar cut next door. Awesome.
Just had this last week and loved it! Their pulled pork was excellent and they have really good BBQ sauce
We had it for the first time last week and thought it was pretty good. I like being able to get the bulk food to go.
FYI: they have certificates on the Restaurant.com site if you want to save a few bucks.
Good to know, I love BBQ food!
yup, had them a couple of times. really good food. they currently have a half-off deal going on: http://wupw.halfoffdeals.com/index.php?index_type=promo-detail&pid=116520
$25 gets you $50 worth of gift certificates
I will have to check this place out. As the snow is now on the ground, backyard BBQ season is officially over.
A pulled pork sandwich with the spicy sauce is starting to sound really good....
My New Year's resolution is to be less bitchy. So since I have already said NICE things about Deet's, let me just add that all of the tableware is styrofoam clamshells (no plates; makes it hard to share food). If you order several side dishes, as I did, you end up navigating through half a dozen little clamshells with a plastic fork. I think they're more oriented towards the takeout business, where secure packaging is appreciated. As far as atmosphere and cleanliness, I would rate them to be about equal to any Subway. But the food is great!
Deet's gets an A+ in my book! They appear to be trying to figure out the best way to do everything (as far as the atmosphere, tableware, etc...) - they have the food nailed down. If you have not already, try the brisket; OMG it's awesome! Very nice to find a new restaurant that was not burgers or mexican.
P.S. The homemade applesauce is delicious too! (Yes, homemade)
Deet's BBQ has half off gift certificates on Fox Toledo Web Site (Deal of the week). Get $50 for $25, just sayin'
Is that for two $25 certificates or five $10 certificates?
Looks like it is for one $50 certificate and must be used in one visit.
Confirmed... there are five separate $10 gift certificates
This place was oh my gosh Deeeelicious! The atmosphere was simply fitting for a BBQ joint and they even were playing bluesy Christmas music! I think i'll be back soon, they are smoking turkeys and hams for the holidays and I don't think i'll be able to pass that up!
I've been swayed. Making it a point to visit over the holidays.
