So what are all of you TT'ers planning to do this year? Hoping I feel better, would really like to see the Walleye drop.
Any other festivities in Toledo metro?

We are going to Mancy's Steakhouse....they've got a great deal on a dinner package. Then home to drink and play games with some friends!
Hosting friends at home: I make it a point to avoid driving between the hours of 8:00 pm and 6:00 am December 31 / January 1.

Great night for Deli Platter of corned beef, pastrami, cheezes, pumpernickel and rye bread during the evening. (What ever happened to the deli on Haughton off of Central Ave?)
Kielbasa and Sauerkraut at Midnight.
And have everyone sleep over and not drive. Some kind of egg/breakfast casserole the next morning with screwdrivers and bloody mary's or virgin mary's for "getting well."
What a cheap and fun time. Everyone bring something and an air mattress/pillows and blankets.
Staying home with the wife and kids. Probably play some games or something.

MattL: What is the Mancy's deal?

Your plan sounds fun, rch101. Simple and low key. That's my thing. I am going to go to dinner somewhere with a friend and see "Black Swan."
Imagine my shock when I found out today that Natalie Portman is pregnant. As for "Black Swan," I hear it's an "intense" movie.
Heard an add for Black Pearl - 2 - 6 oz lobster tails - $23.
Also - Home slice pizza - $25, 10 drink tickets, free eats and champagne at midnight. Band playing.

Went to the Black Pearl for Christmas, had a horrible waitress, she dropped off our food and we never saw her again. Had to flag a bus person down to get a second cup of coffee and then flag the bus person again to find our waitress to get the check...needless to say she did not get a monetary tip, just a verbal one; take some waitress lessons...

If you do go out, don't drink and drive.
If you need a ride, there are free rides/tows:

gold woman - it's like $42 for appetizer, soup, salad, and meal....limited menu, but cheaper than if you went there on a regular night. as always excellent food, and a perfect night for a mancy's meal.
Thanks for the info MattL!

Staying home. How else can you enjoy the fruit of the vine without being assaulted by uniformed and armed thugs merely for driving home afterward?
Only GZ could make the fact that driving drunk is illegal sound like its an assault on his rights.
"How else can you enjoy the fruit of the vine without being assaulted by uniformed and armed thugs merely for driving home afterward?"
One solution?

In Toledo, ABCO Services Inc. is again offering free rides and vehicle tows from midnight to 3 a.m. Saturday.
Steve Zimmerman, president of ABCO, said it was his tow-truck drivers who asked if they were going to be giving people rides home this year. The drivers volunteer their time for the New Year's Eve program because it's the one time of year people are glad to see them.
"If people weren't grateful, they wouldn't do it, but everybody they've picked up has been wonderful and thankful," Mr. Zimmerman said. "They would much rather pull up to somebody that had called them than to go to an accident scene because we were called by law enforcement."
--------
The drivers volunteer for this? That's pretty damn special.

My sister almost died in a drunk driving accident. Its a medical miracle that she survived and is almost back to normal now. (She'll always have to watch out for her kidneys, because one of them had some permanent damage. And she still has some shoulder pain. But given the extent of her initial injuries, its amazing that those are the only problems she still has from the accident.)
I heartily support the work of those tow truck drivers and hope that those who are too drunk to drive take advantage of the offer. Be safe everyone, and Happy New Year!

Heard the Walleye drop really sucked this year. My gf and her sister/bro-in-law ended up coming back. Nothing like it was a 2 years ago, which is sad had fond memories of it.

Enjoy the hockey games TAHL; $5 from every ticket gets donated to the Cannon family and it sounds like they can sure use the help.

Had the lowest-key New Year's Eve in a while. Guess I'm getting to be an old fuddy duddy. We went out to exchange a Christmas gift then had dinner at PF Chang's (the Shrimp with Candied Walnuts was OMG sooooo good; the Sweet and Sour Chicken, totally underwhelming). Then we swung by Kroger to pick up a bottle of champagne and headed home to watch the ball drop on TV. Then we Wii'd for a bit and hit the sack.
Boring, but safe!
Happy 2011 to all of Toledo Talk. :)
