Where's algore When We Need Him?

With all the trouble, all over the World, regarding this years severe Winter-where's algore and the global warming idiots when we need 'em? If they would let us raise the temperature a few degrees we would be better off.

+ sigh +

You know that weather and climate, right? Actually, I am sure you don't. Climate change means less frequent cold spells and more frequent heat waves.

"Choosing shorts or long underwear on a particular day is about weather; the ratio of shorts to long underwear in the drawer is about climate."

-- Charles Wohlforth, "The Whale and the Supercomputer"

double sigh
its all about the grant money, cant get funded for fake science on either side, follow the money, people are making money off of predicting doom, always have.

Weather patterns fluctuate. The Sahara desert was once a green forested area. The Earth is dynamic and climates change without our influence.

As the late, great, George Carlin once said, "The Earth is going to shake us (humankind) off like a bad case of fleas." Whether or not we like it or can do anything about it. It's bigger than us.

Anyone that spends money "saving the earth" is a complete fool (i.e. "wind energy credits", "carbon-emission offsets", etc.).

Acid rain, rivers catching on fire, mass deforestation = singular man made environmental harm from specific causes that needs to be cleaned up. A bunch of lunkheads and despots from the Third World who want the U.S. (and ONLY the U.S.--not China) to pay $$$billions for "climate change" they can't prove is happening or damages them in the slightest = STFU.

Like the religious right making money by forecasting doomsday and repentance through cash donations? Or like conservatives spouting off about liberals being socialists or communists to drum up supporters and donations? Or how the NRA and the like say the president is going to take your guns away so you had better stock up on new ones and plenty of ammo? Geez, I could go on all day giving examples of how conservatives use fear based arguments.

Just cause your kind (climate change deniers) did horrible in science and math classes, never took a class on logic, and fail to use and reference primary sources of information doesn't mean the rest of the world has. How many prayers and pundits built the atomic bomb? How many fear based arguments invented antibiotics?

Wulf, I know you are past the point of educating but do you really have to do such a disservice to all by spreading ignorant lies? How about you spend some time influencing people to value hard work, independence, and strong individual morals, like a real "old school" conservative would?

I did fine in math & science (loved biology, BTW). To DHR-ism you, I have my BA, MA, have conducted academic research (part of getting that MA), can run statistical analysis tests like t-tests, Chi-square, ANOVA's, MANOVA's, etc., read academic research in my field, really want to find the time to complete an MBA (have already taken the core classes as part of my MA), and am attempting to learn a foreign language via Rosetta Stone.

And man-made climate change is a tenuous claim at best, grossly erroneous and fraudulent at worst. Not nearly understood enough in nature to base any "this is it" decisions on it. You're right--overall climate change is happening...as it has for millions of years on this little green/blue ball in the vast expanse of the universe. But claiming man is solely responsible? Nope. The US must pay all these other countries for "climate change"? Nope.

We agree on more than you think, B-swell. I don't want anyone to be fleeced out of money either--and that is exactly what most of the proponents of "climate change" are demanding with many of their proposals. I'm all for a clean earth, but trading "carbon credits" and other such nonsense only serves to enrich and empower Al Gore and his merry band of "climate change" millionaires and useful dupes.

Libs always claim Repubs are the "fear mongers", lets take a look at some of the statements from climatologist...

1. Within a few years "children just aren't going to know what snow is." Snowfall will be "a very rare and exciting event." Dr. David Viner, senior research scientist at the climatic research unit (CRU) of the University of East Anglia, interviewed by the UK Independent, March 20, 2000.

Go ask the NYC kids about not seeing any snow.

2. "[By] 1995, the greenhouse effect would be desolating the heartlands of North America and Eurasia with horrific drought, causing crop failures and food riots…[By 1996] The Platte River of Nebraska would be dry, while a continent-wide black blizzard of prairie topsoil will stop traffic on interstates, strip paint from houses and shut down computers." Michael Oppenheimer, published in "Dead Heat," St. Martin's Press, 1990.

Thankfully I didn't have to shake the topsoil off my overcoat today before I used my computer.

3. "Arctic specialist Bernt Balchen says a general warming trend over the North Pole is melting the polar ice cap and may produce an ice-free Arctic Ocean by the year 2000." Christian Science Monitor, June 8, 1972.

Arctic Ocean has 3.82 million square miles of ice cover

4. "Using computer models, researchers concluded that global warming would raise average annual temperatures nationwide two degrees by 2010." Associated Press, May 15, 1989.

According to NASA, global temperature has increased by about 0.7 degrees Fahrenheit since 1989. And U.S. temperature has increased even less over the same period.

5. "By 1985, air pollution will have reduced the amount of sunlight reaching earth by one half." Life magazine, January 1970.

Air quality has actually improved since 1970. Studies find that sunlight reaching the Earth fell by somewhere between 3 and 5 percent over the period in question.

6. "If present trends continue, the world will be ... eleven degrees colder by the year 2000. This is about twice what it would take to put us in an ice age." Kenneth E.F. Watt, in "Earth Day," 1970.

According to NASA, global temperature has increased by about 1 degree Fahrenheit since 1970.

7. "By the year 2000 the United Kingdom will be simply a small group of impoverished islands, inhabited by some 70 million hungry people ... If I were a gambler, I would take even money that England will not exist in the year 2000." Ehrlich, Speech at British Institute For Biology, September 1971.

I heard they are swimming South Hampton as we speak, lol

8. "In ten years all important animal life in the sea will be extinct. Large areas of coastline will have to be evacuated because of the stench of dead fish." Ehrlich, speech during Earth Day, 1970

And I just spent all that money on a new fly reel...

Don't fall for the fake because you want to be with the "cool kids" who are selling cookies to save the Spotted Owl. Don't think for one second that those "cool kids" are doing nothing but moving money from one bucket to another.

This Earth is a gift to be treasured and protected. But we can do it without jacking the average person's electric bill 100 bucks a month.

At around 50 seconds in he says he took the initiative in creating the internet. So he dont say he created it but it sure sounds like if it wasn't for him it would not of happened.

Al Gore needs to stay on Futurama and live out his life as a cartoon figure, his resume is perfect for the role. Wait I heard they where going to try and re-launch Captain Planet! I just can't take that he is saving the world when carbon trading would make him a billionaire and his home sucks up more electricity than my entire block. Do as you ask others to do before you rape their wallets.

GE and Obama are closer than pigs in a blanket. When the govt. spent 22 million to buy stoves and distribute them to 3rd world countries they where all GE Ranges! The Obama team is pushing to ramp up phasing out incandescent bulbs to try and get to compact fluorescent lights and guess who just closed to incandescent bulb plants in Ohio & Kentucky and opened up a brand spanking new CFL plant in China... GE! Btw I'm in no rush to use a bulb that if shatters lets loose TOXIC chemicals that may cause me to spent hundreds of dollar in environmental cleanup.

Jessie Jackson shows up at environmental rally in a fleet of black v8 SUVs.

Things like that keep me from buying into the current green energy plan. Fund it at a collegiate or research level, let's create the next Einstein and not the next GE by giving tax dollars to corporations in the form of grants or tax breaks to just to move the money around.

Save the Earth... not Standard and Poor's.

And I do favor drilling for oil in the Great Plains till we can get it figured out. We must take the keys of our economy out of other's hands.

I don't have any facts to back up what I think. But I remember when winters were snowy and we could skate on homemade ponds for weeks. Haven't seen that in a few years around here.

I also remember summers of hot days and cool nights and cool days and hot nights. As a kid the weather wasn't something I worried about.

I can't help but believe that we humans have harmed some part of this earth through ignorance in the beginning to just the mass numbers of us. As we added industry it had to have some effect.

Whether this is climate change or dementia setting in is the question for me.
