About 10 minutes ago a huge "boom" shook my office building. Our FedEx lady came back in and said it shook her truck. Now, this wasn't an earthquake type shake. Sounded like a truck blew up or something. Airport Hwy and Holland Sylvania intersection is about 1/2 mile away. Anyone know what that was? Anyone hear that sound too?

Per that link, the earthquake was this a.m., not at around 3:25 p.m. when jordanlee reported hearing the noise.
There was a very loud explosion in the south end the other night (I believe it was Sunday)... I kept watching the news but saw no report of anything... I wonder what it could be?
that's what I wondered, as the guard has been practicing quite a bit lately but I was under the impression that it was against the law for them to travel that fast over the US
I thought that it was against policy to create a sonic boom over populated areas, I have heard them up here just in michigan from over the lake.

It is against policy, however breaking the sound barrier varies with temp altitude and pressure. So they may actually be accidentally doing it if it truly is a sonic boom.

I also heard the sound and it did not sound like a sonic boom to me.I was driving down Glendale towards my daughters house close to Byrne road when I heard it.I also saw a small flash of light on the horizon around me.When I got to my daughters she asked me if I heard an explosion and I said yes I did.Ironically, a fire truck was traveling down Schneider Rd. with its siren on about five minutes after we heard the boom.
