Flu Going Around Winter 2010

Anyone sick? I didnt venture out tonight due to the flu. Been pretty much out of it since Sunday night and really dragging along. Lots of people at work are sick and from I hear from facebook friends-friends lots of people are coming down.

How's TT doing? Passes out tissues, juice, and chicken soup.

I received the all-in-one flu vaccine in September, and so far it seems to have worked: nary a cold or flu bug yet.

Yet...

eh I did too, the 3-in-one shot for seasonal and swine flu. This is still the 2nd worse flu I've ever had in my life. Last time I felt this bad I ended up in the ER. Was glad I could at least start drinking water on day 3 to keep from dehydrating. Rough week though and still not out of the water yet. blarg.

No flu, (knock on wood) but a damn cold that is kicking my butt. I swear,my colds always last a couple of weeks at least.

I don't have it yet but my two sisters and law and all of their kids have it so it's probably a matter of time.

Hope all of you feeling bad start to feel better soon.

The flu shot I got in October has been so-far-so-good for me. I was around some sickies last week and hopefully I've weathered that exposure since I so far feel fine.

JeepMaker, I hear ya'. My colds seem to last a month when I get them!

Sorry you're feeling yucky. Is it respiratory or gastrointestinal. I'm hearing mostly about the GI flu. Hope you feel better.

WTOL did a story on this and it is the Norovirus. I got sick last Thursday and did not feel like eating for a week. Christmas was spent being sick. If you come down with it be sure and suck on ice chips-- you do not want to become dehydrated!

I hope all of you who have the flu feels better. It takes me about a week to get over that kind of gastrointestinal flu. In the last couple of years, I haven't gotten the flu, possibly because I wash my hands all the time. I really think that works, or at least reduces your risk of getting sick. Whenever I do get it, it's usually because everyone in the office gets hit. I got my flu/swine flu shot in October, but I don't think that helps against gastrointestinal flu.

I also wash my hands frequently bikerdude. Along those lines, I also change hand towels frequently. Best of health to all my TT friends.

Lisalouuu is correct about the usefulness of differentiating between gastrointestinal diseases like Norovirus and the spectrum of influenza pathogens, which usually involve the upper and lower respiratory systems.

On a related note, I got nailed with a strong strain of Norovirus last year, and I went from feeling vaguely unwell to violently ill in a matter of hours. This was about 36 hours of almost non-stop vomiting and diarrhea, plus 2-3 more days of crawling back to normalcy. Very uncool.

historymike, that's what I have my gf had it thought she was well and I gave her a kiss when I came back last Sunday. Around 2-3am it started and have been ill since. Took me 3 days before I could even hold down water, then around Friday/Saturday I was able to start holding down basic foods.

Never had a bug last this long that it was starting to concern me. Hope everyone else feels better, or can avoid this.
