New Cue, Swanton Baldy BBQ

We stopped in at Baldy Cue on Main Street in Swanton for a sample on New Year's Day. The meat was awesome, the sauces were great! More vinegar-based and less sugary than most places. The mac and cheese was very good. Also on the menu is smoked meatloaf (wha -? how is that possible?) and extreme Southern delights like Chicken and Waffles. Comfy dining room and I think they have live music some nights. We will go back with a bigger appetite soon!

i was not impressed by my slightly warmer than room temp pulled pork a couple of weeks ago. the plate was covered with juices but the meat was dry, i think they microwaved it.

Yeah, ever since the Blade raved 'em up, the place has become popular...which means more difficult quality control.

I went there after reading a little bit of hype about them. I admire the small-town, "triple-D" type of feel he is aiming for. However, the sauce that I had was a wee overkill on the vinegar. The ribs I had were not too fall-off-the-bone compared to say, City Q. The rib meat was indeed smokey, but there was also an odd taste, something that seemed metallic in nature. The side dishes were legit though.

Catfish on Friday nights is the best time to go.
