Maxwell's Brew Closed?

I just drove by Maxwell's Brew this evening and it looked closed. I do not know if they are remodeling or actually Closed for Business. Just checking to see if anyone had a scoop. I couldn't find any news on the web.

Haven't been there in a long time. Hope it's just temporary, though. Use to enjoy that place when I lived closer to that side of town.

Their number is 419-534-3300. Call them after 6pm on Monday and see if they answer.

I noticed that last nite also, and thought about the recent stabbing of an out of town student.
Maxwell's gets most of their business from OOT students and I wondered if business had dropped significantly because of that.
School (UT) starts today, Monday @ 8:00 a.m.
Why would you wait until 6 to call ?

I don't know if MB is closed, but it shouldn't be a surprise if it is.

Most of the dorms are closer to the Dorr/Secor area and the Oasis at Dorr and Secor is now the #1 student dining spot off campus.

NoSheetSherlock - Was there another stabbing or are you talking about the Casey Bucher stabbing? If so he wasn't really an out of town student. He graduated from Anthony Wayne, and he even worked at Maxwell's Brew.

Maxwell's Brew normally donates to our charity event that the UT hockey team puts on for Cystic Fibrosis but this year they couldn't donate anything as they were too deep into financial difficulties.

I didn't want to name the out of town student.
I would rather name the stabber.

FYI - Anthony Wayne = Out of Town (Toledo).

I haven't gone to Maxwell's Brew since they installed the hookah lounge. The food was shit and the service wasn't great either, as I recall. I remember when it was a bar, either the Stein and Pitcher or Charlie's Blind Pigs. I wonder what will go into it next.

I knew Casey, he should be remembered and not forgotten.

I'm from Sylvania but I don't consider myself an out of towner.

NoSheetSherlock, I would wait until I was sure they were open. I don't know their hours, but I'm sure they are open after businesses closes.

I am from Toledo and I DO consider you an out of towner.
You are from the Toledo area, but not Toledo.
It is the University of Toledo, not the University of Toledo Area Greater Metropolis.

Using your logic, since I was born at Riverside Hospital, could I rightfully consider myself a Sylvanianite ?

No one ever said we should forget the victim in a stabbing. I am saying the focus should be on the punishment of Lawrence James for his role in that illegal, illogical and unnecessary action.

His trial is scheuled for January 31 in Queen Franks' courtroom.

I wouldn't say people from Anthony Wayne are out-of-towners. I grew up in the South end and Maumee and I've found them to be more proud of Toledo than many Toledoans I know.

That would really suck about Maxwell's brew. Before EVERY UT football game I would go there get a turkey club sandwich, large mocha, and a water. My roommate used to go and play his guitar there, sometimes he'd ask me to bring mine and we'd play some songs and meet women. I have a lot of fond memories of that place.

My sisters were born in Oregon, lived in Sylvania all their lives. We must call them Sloregons. :)

You guys! We are very much alive and kicking! Enough with the rumors! Not only we are opened, we are offering great deals for Hookahs and beers! If you are our facebook friend, just mention the post of what kind of deal we are having that day and you may even get your Hookah free! On the 18th of January we are offering 50% of deals on groupon.com . The place has been opened for 15 years and we are not planning to close anytime soon! As the matter of fact, we are planning to open our second location in Michigan.
P.S. to the person who created the post: Sorry that you found us closed that day, who does not have occasional mishaps with the schedule
P.P.S. to the person commenting on our lack of donations this year: we did attempt to donate to you charity this year (for many years we did succeed in our attempts) however your representative failed to show up when requested to pick up the donation. All I could do is offer.
P.P.P.S. to the person who despises hookah lounge: you should come over and give us a chance!:-) It seems like the management changed at least few times since you’ve been here last. During the day our coffee shop is a great place to read a news paper in a quiet atmosphere We have a great selection of coffees and our burgers are pretty popular too!
P.P.P.P.S. Thank you to all our supporters, you guys rock!

I'll pass on the hookah lounge. I'll never give flavored tobacco a chance. I think it's appalling for a coffeehouse to offer such a thing. For that reason, I won't patronize Oasis either.

Call me stupid, but how can they smoke in there?

You're stupid Ryan. That being said, you do raise a good question.

They smoke on the patio and I noticed they had roll down plastic for the sides and gas heaters on the walls.

@molsonator

I guess "Thug Geek LLC", whose link on the Maxwells page is dead no less, wasn't the classy web design firm their name would lead one to believe.
