Snowpocalypse 2011

This obviously will be "Breaking News" on Channel 13. Probably call it the BLizzard of 2011. Cue the reporter standing outside, probably near the Xpressway to tell us it is snowing. Next up will the report from Home Depot showing the rush of sales of snow shovels and rock salt. All of this leading up to the mad rush on groceries..............

Don't forget the interview with a roads department person saying how the plows are out and in force working hard.

Or the reporter just outside WTOL near their sign saying its snowing.

Well, this reporter just got off the road in Sylvania and the roads are complete crap! Hope that helps the weather buffs out there...LMAO! (:

HF is right. Not all snow is white. Why, mixed up in the street, it darkens. Most it is fairly brown. Some if it even gets sort of black.

Apparently the media has to remind people how to drive. There was a six car accident on Douglas around 1:00pm when I was heading off to work.

I had to run an errand for work and must have seen 4-5 accidents/cars in ditches just going on 280 /795. Kinda nuts out there but really didn't seem "that" bad from a driving perspective.

We get big accidents every time there's a major dump or whiteout. Toledoans are too stupid to link weather conditions to driving habits.

I love Toledo in the winter. It looks clean if we get enough snow. About 30" should do it.

It is so funny. All you have to do is slow down and take your time. Most cars do very well in the snow if driven slow and easy. Of course problems start when idiots feel that they can still go the normal speed limit and lose grip, start sliding, lock up brakes, no steering, whammo, in the ditch or into another car. At least it boosts repair shop business.

I saw no less than eight cars off the road between Bowling Green and the Maumee River heading north on I-75 this evening (5:30 pm-ish). While this is hardly the worst snowstorm in memory, it packed a strong punch, and the road crews were not keeping up well. Traffic was rolling between 30 and 40 mph on the freeway, slower near accidents and turns.

Looks like about 4.5" at my house (West Toledo, 9:13 pm).

Fox news at 10 has hit 2. First, they had a reporter outside in North Toledo, about a mile away from 75 in the background. Then, they interviewed a road department person.
Great original programming, news director. Do they really keep going with the same stories year after year?

They probably have story templates in a manual, organized by time of year. In the summer when its 90+ degrees, they'll tell us to stay hydrated and not to wear heavy wool clothing on a mid-day run.

I think in total my neighborhood hit 6 inches. I measured the 4.5" last night with a tape measure, and there was another inch-and-a-half or so to clear this morning.

They were showing a live shot from one of their stationary cameras with a view of the MLK bridge. All of a sudden here comes this person hauling ass on a bicycle in the street. You could see him stop and get on the sidewalk once he realized there are cars coming behind him.

Yes, because with a fully stocked Kroger, WalMart, Meijer, Monettes, etc. practically on every block, the chances of starvation in a decent sized Midwestern city during this "unexpected" January winter storm are so great...

Storm coverage gets big ratings because it is easy for idiots to understand (as opposed to other types of news); therefore, the never-ending reminders to "drive slow", "keep a good amount of space between you and the car in front of you", and b-roll footage of even more idiots rushing out to the Andersons to buy enough salt for 10 driveways, plus 2.

I told a friend yesterday, "if you listen to 3 different TV stations they'll each tell you we're going to get a different amount of snow. If you go by the number of people panic shopping at Krogers the night before, we're apparently going to get 75 feet of snow".

Seems like every time snow is forecast people act like they're going to be snowed in for a week. When was the last time we were actually snowed in...1978.
