TV's Stolen

"Thirteen flat-panel TVs were reported stolen from two popular Toledo bars and nightlife establishments last weekend, Toledo police said.

An employee of Metropolis at The Docks in East Toledo told officers eight 42-inch flat-panel TVs were taken early Saturday morning. The suspect is believed to have had a key to the building, and the club’s alarm system was turned off at 3:40 a.m. and turned back on at 4:05 a.m.

Four 50-inch TVs were reported stolen from Big’z Bar and Grill, 2600 West Sylvania Ave. in West Toledo. A manager told police that when he opened the bar Saturday four TVs were missing and a fifth was broken. Police believe that the suspect entered by breaking a side-door window."

Funny... both are Pompora establishments. Must be back on the oxy and heroin.

The theft at Metropolis certainly screams "inside job"...

Yeah, if the perpitrator had the alarm code, that kind of whittles down the list of suspects. Hopefully justice is served!

What's the story on this "Pompora"?

I hope this isn't another toledo business that got loans from the city of toledo to start their business.

What is the city doing "loaning" money?

Ken Pompora was involved in the Jed's Barbeque & Brew clusterfuck. Tax evasion, drug addiction, non-payment of employees and screwing underage girls. You know, par for the course in regards to the Toledo bar scene.

Sounds like a Charlie Sheen weekend to me...

Barfly, the city loans and grants money since you Toledoans allow yourself to be scandalized by fiscal conservatives who dare to run in elections.

Red, thanks for the update. I suspected as much.

You're painting with a wide brush there Red. Par for the course? Hardly.

Between Frick, Pompora, Jaime Deen, Andrew Z and Kip I'd say it's pretty accurate.

did he also own Mr. Beefy's on Navarre?

I believe Chris Frick owned both the one on Navarre and the one in P-BURG. I doubt Frick would ever go into business with Pompora ever again even though both are douche bags.

That's five out of how many bars in Toledo? That's "pretty accurate"???!!

You are aware they do or have owned FAR more that one each, right? Or are you new to this?

It still doesn't add up to "pretty accurate" in terms of these few slime balls representing the entire bar ownership of the Toledo bar scene. I'm glad you're not my airline pilot, doctor, or tax accountant.

Red,

You post a list of 5 people that apparently you don't like and bash the whole industry, then smugly suggest that a commenter on your hostile position is naive.

Without giving any respect to your position on the owners you mention, every industry has members whose actions reflect poorly on the industry. Banking, mortgage lending, insurance sales, compressed gas sales - every industry.

I know many bar owners who are good businessmen and women. You shouldn't condemn business owners by the hundred because you don't like a few of them. It makes you seem like an arrogant ass hole with an axe to grind and no idea how to grind it.

Jim's right that every industry has it's bad apples and there are good people in the bar industry. My cousin owns a bar, and he's an all around good guy. That said, the bar industry does attract a truly special class of scumballs; some of them are listed above.

I have to agree with Jim.

Jim's place and Jim Meadow's place down the street are the only two bars in Toledo I make it a point to stop at every visit to Toledo. The rest are ehhh to me.
