The cat stuck on the utility pole who was rescued this morning has finally been trapped and is safely at Sylvania Vet. She's being admitted to Maumee Valley Save-A-Pet to await her new home.
Cat On Pole Finally Trapped

So no one owned this cat? Hmmm I don't know why I was thinking it was her owners trying to get her down.
Hopefully with all her media attention, she will get a home quickly! Funny how if an animal's story makes the news, they get tons of inquiries about adoption. Yet, others sit and wait for months.

Unfortunately, that same statement is true about parentless children in foster care...the difference being those kids wait years to be adopted, if at all.

I couldn't agree more, oldhometown. Sad reality.
Wonder why a cat in Maumee was sent across town to Sylvania Vet? Very high priced vet from what I have read on here in other posts. You would think a rescue group would look for more cost effective alternatives. Frankly, would not send my poor dead dog there.....

Wonder why there were no less than 3 posts about a kitten on a pole and only an occasional post about helping the homeless or others in need.
By the way, putting an animal on tv/radio and having a sudden adoption could lead to future neglect when the adopting family grows tired of the cat that used to be a cute little kitten.
The cat sitting on a pole that I saw on the news was a full grown feline.
"Yet, others sit and wait for months."
Yes, Courtney. Very sad. We were going to wait until this spring to get a kitten as a companion for our cat, who loves to play with other cats and is very loney. But we decided to adopt an adult cat because they DO just sit around in their cages waiting for someone to take them home. Nearly half of them are put down, sadly. Kittens usually go right out the door.

That's what I was thinking, GDW. The Maumee Save a Pet lady said her group was going to pay the entire vet bill. There are a lot of vets in the Maumee area. Why would a non-profit that relies on donations take it to a vet that is very high priced? Unless there's a big discount. Even then, I don't think I would take it there. That place is a mixed bag, at best, from what I've read.
They say dark cats take longer to adopt out. In particular black cats are the least popular cats to adopts and often have the longest waits. My black cat had been in the humane society for a few months before we took her home. She's so sweet, yet was ignored for being an adult black cat.

You're right, OhioKimono. Black dogs, too, unfortunately. Most people want dogs and cats that have "pretty markings." I like to go to the shelters and ask who's been there the longest. That's how we adopted our cat, and he is a big sweetheart.
