Buckeye phone users, share your experience?

Buckeye has a tantalizing promo going on for bundling, but for whatever reason, I'm leery of signing up for their phone service. Would appreciate hearing from anyone who has used Buckeye residential phone service for awhile. Many outages? Customer service? Call quality? Or....?

And, yes, I know we're all supposed to have ditched our landlines for cells. Just call me old-school, I guess.

I have the AT&T digital package and love it. Digital is pretty good stuff, great speed and clarity. If buckeye is anything like AT&T digital, go for it.

I have Buckeye and it is pretty good. Have had a few outages which occur when cable goes out but not many. Call quality is very good.

I have only had 1 or 2 outages with the last 4 years. Quality of the calls is standard. Buckeye's customer service is top notch. When you call them you actually get to talk to a person who is located in Toledo, unlike AT&T.

I have had a business line in the past and currently have it at home. I don't pay for long distance with them since I use my mobile phone for those sorts of calls.

One cool customer service related experience that I had was a last year. I was away from my studio for the day at some point last summer. While out I received a call on my mobile from Buckeye Telesystem. The wanted to inform me that our service was down and they wanted to apologize and give me an update when it would be restored. Like I said I was away from the studio and didn't even know anything was wrong. They voluntarily gave me a 5% credit to my bill and the service was restored by the next morning. I found it amazing that they would take time to call me to let me know service was down and offer my a discount. That's great customer service!!

i'm currently in the process of switching over my restaurant's service from AT&T to Buckeye for phone. The savings SEEMS legit, they promise good service, and I like that the money stays local. I also know from experience for home use, and Joel Washing says.. Buckeye has hands down some of the best customer service i've ever experienced.

No problems with Buckeye's telephone. We have the bundled package as well, and it is convenient to be able to have one provider for telephone, Internet, and cable.

I have the bundle as well. No problems here.

I agree with all of the above but what I really like about Buckeye is they don't go into that AT&T service spiel, "If we have to come into your house it will cost you 900 million dollars plus a service fee.... blah, blah, blah." Buckeye has bent-over-backwards wiring my TV, phone and computer and their service is great.

I've had Buckeye phone at my office for about three years, and have had two outages, one from a nearby accident, and the second because an ATT&T guy working on the phones for another business in my building accidently knocked out my lines. Other than that I have no complaints and I did save about $40 a month by switching. I had a ton of problems with ATT&T, and they call me about once a week to try to get me to come back,

I was thinking of canceling the land line, but with the VIP bundle, it's just a few dollars more a month than if I had TV and internet ala cart.

BTW, never had any problems with the quality of service.

I use Buckeye here at work, and we've saved THOUSANDS of dollars, upwards of $8,000, literally, in the year and a half that we've had it. Had 1 outage.(but that didn't even affect our internet, just the phone).

I've recently moved and really miss the whole Buckeye service bundles. Never a problem with the land line and so much less expensive than Verizon, then the local provider for me in Michigan. Internet was always good and so was the cable TV. I had a package that cost $74.00 per month for local TV, phone, internet. PS-for that last 6 or 7 months of the service at the previous home, we did cancel the land line as it alone was 1/3rd of the bill, just didn't see the need for it any longer. I run a business from home and faxing was the only reason to keep it, now I just scan and email. Hope this helps.

We've been bundled with buckeye for years. Maybe a couple outages over the years, but nothing big.

Recently we had static on the line. A service call was set up for the day after I called. They were expected to be here between 10 am and noon. He was here at 10:10. Replaced a bad phone jack that was probably at least 15 yrs old. No service fee, no parts fee.

I agree their customer service is good!

Customer service is key with Buckeye. If there is a problem with your service, you are on the phone with someone local in about 15 seconds. They have always been prompt with taking care of all my issues.

Buckeye = good, in my experience. Inexpensive, prompt, reliable, no obnoxious sales pressure to upgrade.

I too have the bundle and haven't had any major issues in almost 6 years. When I did have problems they were taken care of in a matter of days, if not hours. The only problem I have with Buckeye is that it's owned by the asshole's in Pittsburgh.

I to am very impressed with the phone service. At first there were their kinks and the voice would would sound digitized but they fixed it. My sister just had problems with her phone, when someone called, they could hear that someone picked up the phone, but not the person talking. A call to Buckeye tech, very friendly person, and packets were sent and the phone was working with in a few mins. I also like the bundling, everything under one bill. Very fast tech support and home support for all 3 services.

I can not wait till Buckeye's cell phone comes out. Hopefully it's at a better rate than others.

Been a Buckeye VIP Bundle customer for years. Excellent telephone sound quality IMHO. Outages are extremely rare.

As I've stated here before in other threads, Buckeye's service is 2nd to none.

If they do, I hope they use Verizon or ATT's towers. I can't get signal @ work with TMobile or Sprint.

I guess I can understand wanting to keep your "dollars local" if that floats your boat (even though your money goes to Pittsburgh). I think it's a sales tactic to get union people in the loop but Buckeye phone service is overpriced. For 29.99 a month you only get local calls and a 150 mins of long distance through Buckeye, for the same price you get unlimited LD and other features from Packet 8 (who I use). It will cost you 40 bucks a month for an unlimited plan through Buckeye but only 26 bucks through Vontage.

If 15 bucks a month is worth it to you to "keep your dollars local" than God Bless you but thats half a tank of gas for me! I will not overpay to support the Blocks, it's bad enough they have a stranglehold on the cable market.

Buckeye is way too expensive, I will be glad when AT & T service is available in my area. Streaming is the way too go and then Buckeye will be no more.

I just switched to Buckeye from AT&T. They are much more expensive.

Bundled package cost me more, so I went with AT&T. No problems so far. Looks like the cable companies can no longer hold monopolies, so more companies will be coming in to compete. I wasn't aware of that until I saw it in the news. That will be good. Competition brings prices down and improved products and services.

Also, Buckeye and other providers keep cranking up costs every year. I may be seriously looking into watching tv and movies on the cheap on the Internet. I know a lot of people who are doing that with huge cost savings.

The Buckeye VIP bundle is the best value out there, if you want internet, cable, and phone!
Service is excellent amd prompt. If your power goes out, you should still have phone service for at least 2 hours-make sure Buckeye outfits your modem with battery back-up. Also, if you receive the Blade, and your a VIP customer, the Blade will give you a discount. I believe it's around $30/year.

"Broadband Reports was the first to learn, and has confirmed with AT&T, that the company will be implementing a new 150GB monthly usage cap for all DSL customers and a new 250 GB cap on all U-Verse users starting on May 2."

http://www.dslreports.com/shownews/Exclusive-ATT-To-Impose-150GB-DSL-Cap-Overages-113149

It seems like things are going backwards with AT&T. Any idea how large an episode of Dexter on Netflix runs? How about a two hour movie? Also we play Mario Cart online as well; I’m curious how much that would eat up out of 250gigs. Of course none of this includes the computer, laptops, iPod and iPad all sucking down content as well.

Luckily I have Buckeye I guess, but I hope it doesn’t give them any ideas.
