Wouldn't that be like suing beer companies because you got cirrhosis?

I love Scalia opinions. Sotomayor gave one of the longest dissents I've seen.
"Wouldn't that be like suing beer companies because you got cirrhosis?"
Yes, if it only took one beer to get cirrhosis.
bobo: true, very true. Also, kids have to have vaccines to get into school unless there is a religous reason. No one forces anyone to have a beer much less the amount you need for liver damage.

I get your point Bobo. Let's just stop vaccinating everyone and we won't have to worry about it then. Bring on all the diseases that used to wipe out large chunks of the population. We're overpopulated anyways. I've been itching for a case of whooping cough, just so I could say I've had it.

I didn't read that, but its hard science that very very few people have ever been effected by a vaccine, compared to the millions and millions who have been helped, and there's no way to know ahead of time who will be affected, so it's the price we have to pay for living so close together.
Now, what is the motivation for the vaccine makers to provide safe vaccines? To perform sufficient testing? To not cut corners?
I think a reading of the SCOTUS opinion answers provide a lot of answers.
SCOTUS = Supreme Court of the United States. Forgot that only lawnerds would get that.
