Self-serve dog wash

How many minutes did that say for 5 bucks? I do mine at home, tub in the winter and baby pool in the summer.

There is one at the pet store next to kroger/target on Alexis. Forget which on that is. They have 2 stations in back.

The older I get the harder it is to get the dogs scrubbed up in the bathtub. But so far that's the drill. Line em' up and they all three get the "treatment". I pre brush and shampoo/rinse. The mate does the drying off and we both do the post brushing. If I had only one I might consider a self serve dog wash station. Less bending. Three? A tad too expensive. Nice idea though.

We've used the Pet Supplies Plus one on Alexis before. $8 gets you somewhere about 10 minutes. I don't know the amount exactly - more than enough for one dog. One $8 wash per dog, though. Our greyhounds don't have a lot of hair, so I can get them both washed in under the time limit for one $8 wash, but they get grumpy and want me just use one wash per dog and pay double.

The fee includes access to supplies as well, correct? That's what it looks like online, anyhow.

I'm thinking that maybe $8 wouldn't be so bad when it includes the shampoo and everything. Especially when I don't have to spend all that time cleaning the dog hair out of my tub afterwards!

Did you find that it was more efficient? If the shampoo comes out of the sprayer, I could see it cutting down on total bath time, and the sprayer probably rinses them better too.

I've heard some people say that during warm weather they bathe their dogs outside, but its doubtful that mine would hold still long enough for that. I envision them breaking free and taking a soapy roll in the dirt. Eek!

When I use to live off Alexis/Lewis I used to take my dads dogs to Petsmart (Petsplus?) near the Kroger on Alexis. Reasonably priced and imho worth the few bucks for the added ease. Plus you can pick them up a treat on the way out.

People actually pay to give their dog a bath? Is there a garden hose shortage?

LOL, HTS, but I can see the appeal. Especially in that you can stand up to use it. I've always been a bathtub dog bather, myself, but as I get older it seems a lot harder on the knees (and the back, and the shoulders!).

As someone with 3 dogs, having the facilities as those described above is a blessing. Especially for the bending over part and the spray hose. Sure, I've washed them outside in the backyard during the summer, but you still get grass and keeping them from running all over and rolling in dirt is challenging.
I think the dog wash stations are a great idea. It's not about being lazy or spoiled. It's about not having a bath tub 4 feet off the ground to eliminate the bending and the better sprayer.

mom2, I guess I got lucky with my dogs so far. Although baths aren't their favorite thing, once I got them in the water they pretty much became statues, lol.

I took my sister's dog to Petsmart? or one of the pet stores a few years ago for a bath and they provide you with everything, including shampoo and towels. I thought it was a great deal. The only thing was the dog didn't like other dogs much and it was hard navigating a 125 lb. mutt through the aisles, as a lot of people like to bring their dogs into the store when shopping. He really is a sweet boy, but just likes to bark at other dogs.

As I posted before I have three dogs, bathed here at home. Two are done in the bathtub. Excuse the eeww factor, but the 2.7lb Yorkie gets bathed in the kitchen sink. She's about the size of a large guinea pig. I love the "not bending over factor" of a pay dog wash station, but I don't think I can afford all three and I'd obviously have to make three trips.

Wrangling a 125lb energetic, curious pooch seems like a huge nerve wracking ordeal, whether in the tub or at a pay place. Hats off to ya bikerdude.
