It's time, and they appear to be tasty.

Disgusting, ain't it?

I posted these articles in my post "Not Toledo related, but 2 must read articles..." below. The zerohedge synopsis is really good (link located in my post).

Sad that this information will not get the readership and coverage that it should. Americans would rather put their head in the sand than read 4 pages. People would rather get angry at a person getting thousands of dollars from unemployment than wall street wives, who have no relevant investing experience, getting hundreds of millions.

Sorry, JJ, I didn't see your post until after I'd posted this.

As for the Wall Street wives, I guess it's true: it's not what you know, but who you know.

"I guess it's true: it's not what you know, but who you know" - So Anni would you say the samething about this? http://www.toledoblade.com/local/2011/04/13/Trade-groups-want-union-agreement-in-Marina-sale.html

I guess it's ok if you have "local 123" in front of your name right? Cause you know equality means everyone would have a fair shot at the contract right? But I guess cause Unions have saved this country countless times they should be first to the public food trough?

Wall Street wives and Toledo unions want theirs no matter if it's best for the taxpayer or not.

You're right Annie. ALL business folks are bad! Down with them ALL! Filthy Rich! We don't need them!!! They never pay taxes nor contribute anything, not like our "Blessed Poor"/Aka the "Salt of the Earth." I hate CEO's too! Anybody could be a CEO!

Hey, anybody see Charlie Sheen up in Detroit the other day? I hope for the best for ol' Charlie. What a card!

That deed restriction proposed by the union is just ridiculous. Why would anyone want to invest significant amounts of money in Toledo when stipulations like this could potentially arise.

Still a little surprised that the Annie's op doesn't cause a more visceral reaction in every American.

Local unions may doom Toledo, but Wall Street could doom the nation.

Taibbi appears to be somewhat of a dick personally, but at least someone is willing to call the powerful on their bullshit. Can you name any other journalist who digs into big business? No, but there are tons of "investigative journalists" who will pile on the poor, the unemployed, Planned Parenthood, NPR, unions, etc. I always thought America loved the underdog, but now it appears that the underdogs have lost their luster when compared to Wall St. fatcats. All hail our corporate overlords!

What reaction do we have left? You blame the power hungry, big biz loving, war mongering, deficit spending, free trade agreement giving, elite tax reducing Repubs who are so evil, so you shift to the power hungry, big biz loving, war mongering, deficit spending, free trade agreement giving, elite tax reducing Dems.

If Obama had the set he said he did to really make changes then why does he back down to the Repubs 99.9% of the time? Besides throwing a couple of nuggets of legislation to interest groups he has been a Republican!

I don't give a shit about Don't ask, Don't Tell or same sex benefits cause every couple should have the ability to hold hands and get the same tax breaks as we slide down the path to hell.

This is the danger of years worth of unemployment payments and giving people 18 years of vacation pay for having unprotected sex... http://www.usatoday.com/money/economy/employment/2011-04-13-more-americans-leave-labor-force.htm?loc=interstitialskip

"No matter how wealthy you are, you have a problem if half the population is not working and depending on those who are," says John Goodman, president of the conservative National Center for Policy Analysis. "Wherever you look, we've overpromised."

We continue to spend on entitlement programs as if our economy is still booming, I just don't believe that taxing the rich man is the panacea to all our problems. So when we run into a hole again for war mongering and over promising do we just tax them again and again?

posted by dbw8906 on Apr 14, 2011 at 12:54:40 pm     #

Screw it, I'm not rich, get them MF's tax them till they bleed, as long as you tax ALL of them, Kerry, GE, Oil Companies, if you make more than 100k a year just take all the extra. No exceptions no loopholes. See how long anyone bothers to work past that first 100k.

Hey, congratulations--looks like in Toledo, the "rich" have been eaten!

You got what you wanted...those rich bastards have been taken down a notch or two and we aren't affected anymore by their unseemly presence in our community. Now life is just peachy, right? Right? It's a paradise here in NW Ohio. Everyone is happy--there's a surplus of money in the city and we have equality for all! Yay!!!

Toledo Blade: Local High-Income Ranks Fall

"The number of upper-income residents in Lucas County fell significantly in 2008 and 2009, pushing Toledo and its suburbs to last among the six big cities in Ohio in residents with incomes above $200,000. And that results in less money spent at restaurants and stores, hurting the economy and affecting employees at businesses including car dealers, service providers, theaters, and entertainment venues."

Wait a second. No-no-no...this can't be true. Rich people "spend" money and it helps the economy? WTF??? This isn't what I've been reading on the Huffington Post. Obviously, the Blade is just very very wrong on this. Bush sucks.

"Mark Zyndorf, a Toledo businessman and entrepreneur with an income of more than $200,000 a year, said households at that level usually help the local economy by their spending habits. "When you have that, you can give back to the art museum, the opera, other charitable things in the community," he said. For example, Mr. Zyndorf said his wife loves animals and is a big supporter of the local Humane Society. He is a member of the Valentine Theatre board and helps lead fund drives for its support. "

Oh, this is just ridiculous. A local "rich" guy who supports the Humane Society and the Valentine Theatre? What a complete bastard! Have we looked at his position on SB5 yet? These are the kind of people we just cannot have in this community until they pay "their fair share". Council needs to act quickly or this guy will be out there making and spending money like a complete fool--and by the way, have I had the opportunity to tell him how to spend his money? No, I most certainly did not and that is just unfair that he has all this "extra money" to throw around and I don't. Let's pass a law so we get everything he makes past $100,000. Isn't that enough for him, greedy SOB???

oldhometown, you seem to imply that local incomes are down for the wealthy due to taxes ("eating the rich"). But the article you cite suggests no such thing. If anything, it makes the reasoning pretty clear--demand is low. Anyone who is paying attention already knew that.

oldhometown -- did you read the article? Or are you just responding with unrelated venom? If you had read the original post, then you would see that your post is COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT!

No, but I think when they talk about brain drain in Toledo, your posts exemplify why there is brain drain. Can't even read the original post? It was only 4 pages, or so.

liberals are the only ones who don't want to be taxed? Interesting observation.

I'm a liberal, and I see my taxes as an investment in my community. I have no problem with paying taxes.

I didn't say it that way.I said taxed more.Besides,I was saying that in jest.I should have added LOL!Hey Annie ,if you think we are not taxed enough or if you like paying taxes then why don;t you pony up a little more jack to the local government. After all, government knows how to spend our money better than we do.Why don't we just give them all our money and let them decide who gets what. That way there would be no class envy.We could all have exactly the same of everything for everybody. We could just sit back and let those filthy rich bastards take care of us.

Buck until those filthy rich bastards pack up and leave or just cash out and join the rest on the take from the government.

So glad that a lot of folks will sell their votes for some pretty piss poor living conditions and low income welfare.
