Two Toledo History Finds

I was looking through some old boxes from my Mother's house when I ran accross two cool finds.

1) A Christmas card from 1950 - from Libbey Owens Ford Glass Company. The card is 16 1/2" tall by 12 1/2" wide. On the front it reads "At this Crhistmas Season, 174 years later, America extends hope to all free peoples..." When you open it there is a lose leaf copy on parchment paper of the Declaration of Independance. On the inside back page is a drawing of soldiers in the Revolutionary War with the star above them giving of a reflection of a cross.

2) I poltical cartoon drawn by Ed Ashley of The Blade. Apparently, he drew the carton to run if Jimmy Carter would have gotten re-elected and sworn in – in 1981.

I love Toledo history.
