Medical Advice Needed

I'm going to assemble a first aid kit that will travel along with me out of town and generally remain in my hotel room. While there are plenty of kits you can buy, it's likely these are over-priced and/or inadequate in many ways. I haven't taken the time or effort to study up on any of this, so I'm hoping for some suggestions that come from experience or professional medical knowledge.

Aside to Ryan: You can skip the "stopping a nosebleed by applying a tourniquet to the neck" routine. I've heard it and the humor has worn off.

LOL! Never heard that one, but putting away for future use.
Other than the obvious I would say butterfly bandages and maybe some type of wipes.

I'd add a few large bandages and spool of gauze, in case you ever see a major wound.

Burn cream and space blanket.

Eye wash.

mj... There are several on-line sites that recommend kits. Home Land Security, Red Cross and such. Putting together a "Grab-n-Go" First Aid Kit here "by committee" will get you a kit that weighs in at about 65 lbs and you'll be able to remove the toncils from a horse. Hee Hawww

Depends on what you think you can handle. No need to carry butterfly bandages if you can't handle blood.
I'm not a medical professional, but with the hockey league, I've done separated shoulders, broken wrists, lacerations that required stitches, concussions, bee stings, and numerous cuts/scrapes.
I found that the online medical supply place had the best prices and quanity.
I personally recommend:
-chemical ice packs
-anti-acids
-aspirin & tylenol
-insect bite/sting ointment
-arm sling
-2 rolls of ace bandage
-band aids
-first aid tape
-scissors
-smelling salts
-bottle of water or steril saline
-good antibiotic
-decent first aid reference book

as posted above, you can get pretty carried away with supplies, but stick with what you expect or imagine. Buy the book first and look through it. Make a list of what you want to have on hand. Then review it for a "mandatory list" you could put together.

sorry to suggest it, but costco generally carries a complete, compact, and affordable kit - we've had for a few years and its the first thing i pack, after restocking the few items we run have through

Superglue.

I wanted to reinforce that, though the other suggestiosn are valid. You can buy medical grade "sterile" superglue, but really, regular superglue is just the same. Use it on cuts that won't close, as a clear bandage, etc. My old man's a paramedic and he swears by superglue.

If you factor in the Zombie Apocalypse, the kit should also include a chainsaw :D

My hunting pack has tampons as well -- gunshot wounds. Depending on your travel and hotel selection, perhaps you should include them.

Snack -- granola bars,small mirror, .

Most hotels have anything you'd need. Do you have major health problems.
