Is there anyone in the area who spouts out more, and knows less than this guy? What a windbag. I swear he's on the brink of an orgasm every time he talks about one of the Catholic schools, especially St. Johns. Please.
Tom Cole

Well Tom is partial to St Johns as he was a teacher and coach there for many years. I was one of Tom's students and I think he is a great man. I believe he cares a great deal about his students.
As for your displeasure with his broadcasting ability, turn it off if it bugs you. Nobody is forcing you to tune in.
Cheers!
He may be a great man, but his on-air presence makes him come off as some yahoo kinda jock that acts like he knows more than he really does. Almost like a fake persona. I think he's probably better suited to teaching than he is broadcasting.

rfisher, are you displaying a Christian attitude or behavior?
Have known Mr. Cole since 1965. Will attest that there is not one single thing "fake," about him.
I also had Mr. Cole as a teacher, and knew his daughter growing up. He is a very cool guy with a ton of personality.
I have done interviews with Tom and always found him to be prepared. His excitement and passion for HS sports is great. The athletes love BCSN and the exposure they now get.
However that Rant & Rave show he does with some other guy makes my ears bleed.
I also had Mr. Cole as a teacher...
Okay, that may explain a lot.
If Mr. Cole sounds a bit intense, by all means listen to someone else or go and amuse yourself in a different fashion.
JR: Thanks for posting the link. I needed a good laugh this morning.
I also know Tom Cole since my son had him as a history teacher.I think Tom is a great guy.He is always friendly when I see him.He is very passionate about high school sports. If you think that is a fault then so be it.It is too bad there aren't more people like him.I have seen him interview many high school athletes and he seems truly interested in the students welfare.Keep up the good work Tom.

He was always one of the most popular teachers when I was at SJ and one of the funniest. BCSN is a perfect fit for him.
I concur with AF--he was always a popular teacher at SJ. I never was in class with him, but I'm glad he found an outlet for his love of sports.
As for the original poster, radios & TVs have on/off switches and channel changers. Use them!

Well, like I said, he MAY be a nice guy. I have no idea. But he just comes across on TV and radio as some cheeseball who thinks he knows more about sports than he probably really does. His analysis on BCSN high school football games is dreadful. And like I said, his drooling over catholic school athletes is borderline creepy...haha.
I see him in Panera Bread all the time. He's the loudest guy in the place. You can hear him placing his order no matter where you're sitting. He loves the attention obviously, and thinks he's some of of local celebrity. Gag. Hahaha.
I personally think Jordan Strack is worse, but I get why BCSN & WTOL bring these guys in... they are from around the area and know about the local teams.
It seems that nobody else agrees with you rfisher. Having never met the guy I cannot pass judgment, but what BCSN does for local sports is great and he seems to be a major player (no pun intended) in their broadcasting. He should be commended for that. Get your panties out of a bunch.

rfisher complained about three days equaling 72 hours, complained about receiving an improper greeting from a church volunteer, and is now complaining about a local high school sports talk show host.
rfisher, you should write a self-help book to instruct people how to live like you, since you have no real problems.

Tom Cole had been a head coach for I believe Freemont St. Joe a few years back and an assistant coach with St. Johns. For you to say he doesn't know anything about high school sports/football is rediculous.

Tom Cole is a GREAT man, he is by far one of Toledo's finest. He is very passionate about his community and sports. He was a quaterbacks coach under Cam Cameron at Michigan(he was a coach to Tom Brady, enough said). He's coached at St. John’s Jesuit, Waite, DeVilbiss, Fremont St. Joe’s, and Adrian College. I think the guy knows what hes talking about.
LOL@him being a great man. OK, fine. But he SUCKS at being a sportscaster. Like I said, he walks into Panera's with his sunglasses on, white shirt unbuttoned halfway down his chest, and is LOUD. "Heyyy everybody, look at ME, I'm Mr. Joe COOL, and a small town wannabe sportscaster"! Loud and loves attention, but doesn't really have much to say. Kinda sounds like Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann. Heck, I get he's a fan of theirs...haha.
And by the way, Norm Wamer is by FAR a better guy for sports in this town. Great play-by-play or commentary. He KNOWS his stuff.
UH OOOO! rfisher just pushed this to the politics section. :)

Wamer is a hack, plain and simple. The guy has the interview skills of a 10 year old. Beckman sounds like he wants to pull his own ears off when he is on the Front Row.
I find Cole tolerable, but also a bit annoying in his over-the-top manner. But, he is leaps and bounds beyond Wamer.
Toledo is really short on sports announcer talent. That being said, none of them will ever be as bad as Colin Cowherd. Besides being a bad sports analyst, his attempts to sound hip/street give skinny white guys everywhere a bad name.

rfisher = Panera manager with an ax to grind against Tom Cole?

"LOL@him being a great man. OK, fine. But he SUCKS at being a sportscaster."

That's because rfisher swerved off-base yet again, but this time into criticizing and laughing at a local radio talk show host who died several years ago.
But now we'll never find out which panera he worked at! :)
