Toledo Area Book Clubs

Are there currently any book clubs for women in the Uni/Old Orchard area? I am very intereasted in joining a group of contemporary women for open book discussion.

I'm sure the Sanger Branch library on Central either has a book club or knows how to find some nearby. My sister is a big fan of her club (out of state). Seems like a nice thing to do.

BTW, sometimes a man wants to join the club, if he likes literature, or just the chosen book. So it may not just be women.

RockChick, if you find anything, could you post the information here? A friend and I were looking about a year ago and could find nothing other than a group that met at Panera in Maumee and another one at the West Toledo library branch that met in the middle of the day--which excludes anyone working 8 to 5.

My friend ended up starting her own as I started grad school. Joining one is something I'm still interested in. Helping to run one would be something for AFTER grad school. :)

There's a really great book group at the People Called Women bookstore. It was at Cricket West until last year, now it's on Holland Sylvania near Sylvania Ave.

Check it out here: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=150366798321866

Oops.

The link I posted is to a similar group in England. Try this one: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=group_187778764578629

RockChick, a friend told me that near Chicago they have a book group called "Noir in a Bar." They meet once a month to discuss edgy books in an adult atmosphere. Sounds good to me! Let me know if you decide to start a club.

I'd greatly enjoy a book club but I'm male.

There was a meetup.com based Book group in Toledo but not entirely sure what happened to it. Went one time and it was all female so I felt a bit out of place.

Actually looks like it's still around.

INC, you posted that link a month too late. I've been meaning to read Left Neglected, and apparently that was the group's July selection.

INC - I was at the library last night, and tried looking for their August selection (just in case I decided to show up). It was already checked out though. However, I did check out the book from July that I've been wanting to read. :)

Also...while at the Sylvania branch library last night, I discovered that they have a book club that meets once a month. I don't know much else about it, but can get more info next time I'm there. They had a schedule on the wall of dates/books for the rest of the year.

Yesterday's Blade featured an article about local book clubs.

RockChick - one of the clubs profiled was an Old Orchard women's book club.
