Gardening in Northwood . . .

Better think twice if you are considering setting up a garden in Northwood. This is really sad.

NORTHWOOD, Ohio (WTVG) -- A retired soldier finds himself a victim after vandals strike his property. The vandals ruined the man's most prized possession. It all happened at a home off Woodville Road in Northwood.

Raymond Robarge, 67, is trying to pick up what's left of his garden. The 20 by 20 foot garden was home to dozens of plants. You name it, he grew it. But now it's been destroyed.

Police say overnight, vandals came in and destroyed the whole thing. Now, this 26 year Vietnam vet with health issues is trying to make sense of why someone would do this.

As an avid gardener, all I can say is: Man, that's low. Gardeners put a lot of work into producing plants that provide food and beauty to a community, and while I do not want to overstate the argument, there is a sort of sadism involved in this kind of vandalism that is akin to people who torture animals.

My heart breaks for this poor guy. Totally agree with History Mike.

I feel for the guy. My garden was nearly decimated by animals this year, but they can't help it. They are eating it and just being animals. But to have your garden destroyed willfully and wastefully by someone is a real disgrace.
