Whole Foods...

Who was it that was talking about Whole Foods recently?

I am not for or against Whole Foods, I did however find this interesting.

A Whole Foods employee has sent a blistering 2,343-word email to staff after quitting his job, describing the company as a "faux hippy Wal-Mart."

I wanted to stop reading after the ex-employee insinuated that whole foods pizza is sub-par. The stuff is excellent, the topping are great... and the pieces are quite large for the price.

The purely negative description of all people was amusing.

Also amusing: how is this disgruntled employee upset for being punished for being late?

Whole foods is probably experiencing some growing pains that will challenge their initial concept -- and the letter pointed out some viable concerns -- but it's still far better most grocery chains.

An interesting read, but the ex seems a little insane.

Anderson's has its share of disgruntled employees, but probably less than most. One of the biggest complaints you hear in the retail part is how hard it is to move up the ranks because no one ever quits. There are plenty of folks who have been working at the store since the early days.

And re: Whole Foods employee, that guy is definitely a d-bag. Wait til he starts his next job. I bet he is in for a rude awakening.

Isnt nobody quitting a god thing? Thats not really a "fault" really. I just used them as an example because I am always giving terrific service at the stores and I know quite a few people who work in their corporate offices and they literally love the place, even if they aren't getting rich.

A "GOOD" thing.
Don't want to start a different discussion, lol.

Yep, the people that do stay love it. I think most employees work there for 3 or 4 years, see that there is no chance to move up and leave, or else they stay there for their whole careers. No inbetween. Get that a lot at unique places to work like the Zoo, Museum, UT, etc.

That was an interesting read - not for the name calling and personal attacks of former fellow co-workers, but there was actually a fair amount of truth being told regarding the image that WF puts forth.

Are they better than the average grocery store? You bet. Is everything they offer nutritious, delicious and organic? Not a chance. Are their prices on the moon? For the most part, yes, absolutely. But, still a fun place to shop.

There are some others in the Metro Detroit and Ann Arbor area that I actually prefer over WF. Hiller's Markets and The Plum Market are a couple. Also, The Produce Station on State St. in Ann Arbor is pretty amazing.
