Toledo's Ohio Nat'l Guard gives free health services

Gotta give a hand to the guys in our National Guard. They are offering free health checkups to residents this weekend. Whatta great thing these guys are doing! http://abclocal.go.com/wtvg/story?section=news/local&id=8317662

The downside is that this is being conducted in the "back meadow" of the Lucas County Health Department downtown off Erie St. Not that that is bad in itself. I am just ticked off that a county agency that spends 30% of our county funding has to rely on a volunteer agency to do what they should be doing on a regular basis. I know that the Health Department offers some free services to the public, but nothing like this, I know. They should be doing this monthly out of their own pockets.

Oh, wait! I forgot they are going to the County Commissioners for more money. They don't have enough. Maybe they are spending too much to fund the salaries of Grossman and Vasko.

But thanks anyway to our National Guard.

Pete,
Wait a minute, you mean to tell me that if you weren't paying 2 guys each $100,000 to do the same job that the Health Department would have some money to do things? Instead there is a $600,000 shortfall and they are going to cut services, and jobs from the people that actually do the work down there, not sit on their asses all week!

And also have a private practice so that this is just "Part-Time" employment?

Actually, Larry, these two guys are paid nearly $150,000 each per year for their Health Department duties. What they make on the side is unknown.

Yes, and having a shortfall after spending a million dollars on "renovations" no of which included clinics or places the public uses. The money went to redo their offices, that must be some nice furniture, for a million dollars! They should both quit or retire, and let someone who knows what the hell they are doing, run that place!

Communities have seen their annual assessments from the Health Department increase over the years. Grossman has said it's because property values have gone up. What planet is he on? Grossman should go!
